(More customer reviews)Whether I used a regular mop and bucket, my swiffer wet jet, or my hoover steam vac, I always ended up with a haze on my hardwood floors that I would clean off with a wipe or furniture polish.This is the first machine that leaves my floor shiny and without a haze.It is worth it just for that!!!I also like the job it does on my lineoleum.The first couple of times I used it on what I thought were clean floors because I had recently mopped them, I was surprised at how dirty the water was.After using this as my primary means to clean my floors (two maybe three times a week depending on traffic and what is going on in my household) I notice that my floors not only look cleaner, but also feel much cleaner on the few occassions when I am not wearing house slippers. This is so much better than the regular mopping.

I have read other reviews on the flip-it regarding water being left on the floor; when that does happen, I just go back over that section so that it will be taken care of. For the most part I don't care about a little water on the floor because I would have so much more if I had the mop and bucket or used my steam vac.I am sold!

(More customer reviews)I am a big fan of canister vacuums, and when my old one recently broke I turned to Amazon to research all the latest models. I decided to buy the DigiPro because of the many features it offered for a great price. I am pleased to report that it performs better than I expected, and I was happy with my old one so I expected quite a bit. I like how it allows me to control the amount of suction power, the adjustments for various carpet heights/hard floors, and the ability to turn on/off the brushes. It has washable HEPA filters so there are no expensive filters to replace and it even has a light that comes on when it is time to change the bag. The cord has a push button retractor so the cord rewinds itself and stores out of the way.
I have 3 kids, 1 dog, and 1 cat, so needless to say I have plenty to clean up. It's nice knowing that tucked away in the closet is a great vacuum that can help me tackle any mess. This vacuum is definitely worthy of a 5 star review.

(More customer reviews)UPDATE: WOULD REDUCE TO 2 STARS. At no charge, the manufacturer sent a replacement cover to correct the broken rivet. The customer service was good. They suggested bending the wheel into place to straighten the Now, however, 17 months after purchase, the electric power nozzle does not turn on. This follows on several weeks of the nozzle turning on and off intermittently. Now I wish I had purchased the vacuum from a physical store with a buyer protection program. My new strategy is to buy cheap vacuums on a buyer protection plan and get the broken parts replaced. This was way too expensive for the grief.

ORIGINAL: I bought this because I was tired of the expensive, plastic vacuums falling apart within the first year of use. While this vacuum is incredibly powerful (indeed it sucks the area rugs right off the floor) it's not the indestructible stainless steel canister vacuum of my childhood. Within the first 4 months a rivet broke loose from the canister, making it impossible to close the vacuum. I tape it shut for use now. One wheel drags as well, leaving long black scuff marks on my white floors. I'm underwhelmed, but perhaps the manufacturer will make good on the warranty.

(More customer reviews)I purchased a Hoover carpet shampooer recently, and was very pleased with performance and quality, so naturally I looked at Hoover's line of vacuums. The price for the canister was a bit much, I thought---but I liked the idea of the freedom it offered, having had uprights for the last 10 years. My first impression was that the quality of the plastic wasn't there, so only 3 stars--for example, if you open the top to reveal the two small attachments (the other two: floor/brush and upholstery won't fit anywhere), the lid seems like it wouldn't take much pressure to accidently snap it off. Also, when it arrived, the plastic window covering wasn't attached--no problem, it snapped right in---but it left me with an unsettled feeling about my purchase. The good news is that it's pretty easy to roll, the handle is adjustable, and for the first time in ages I can actually vacuum under my bed :) I also like the way the canister secures the handle; it doesn't take much more room than the upright. The suction is good, as I haven't seen my carpet's nap in a while; it's around 5 years old. Overall, I think if it were priced a little less or the plastic was more durable, I'd feel better...but with both Hoover products, my carpet is looking more like its old 'new' self.

From 3 Stars to 1: About 8 months to a year after the purchase, the retractable cord started to have issues, and there seemed to be a power-connection problem too. This year the handle (or wand), which was my favorite feature because it moves up and down has broken somewhere, and it won't hold a new position. Suction isn't good anymore, and the bag changing is frequent and messy. Finally, while initially I felt it gave me more freedom in ease of use, it actually is a royal pain to maneuver anywhere: frequently tips over, and pivotal hose difficult to pivot.

UPDATE Nov 2010: I purchased a Shark Navigator in October, with a Square Trade Warranty---and feel LOTS better about it. The Hoover is now my husband's choice for vacuuming out the cars.

I am pleasantly surprised by this little machine...the suction is great, it's not too loud, doesn't clog, and it's lightweight.Plus the price is right!!I was looking into getting a miele until I found this.I use this at my vacation home (a 60 year old ranch home that produces a LOT of dust) where all the floors are hardwood or tile and I have an area rug.The vac works fairly well on the area rug, too.The handle feels much more solid than the previous machine I had and doesn't fall apart. And I actually prefer the bag to the bagless version I previously had. It is so much easier to change the bag than pull out a canister and have dust flying everywhere.I highly recommend this for someone who has a lot of hardwood floors and wants to get up ALL the dust on the floors, in the corners, under the sofas!!!

(More customer reviews)This vac was impressive out of the box. the suction was amazing... for a week. You quickly will discover that his vac takes an enormous amount of TLC. If you have a woman in the house with longish hair, or pets, it will clog up immediately.You have to use your fingers or a tool to pull out the debris EVERY time you vacuum. The filter pad has direct contact with debris, so it need to be replaced or washed every few vacuums.WE VACUUM EVERY DAY.. not carpet.. hard wood floors.. and this vac lasted a month before it completely died, despite all our extra care of unclogging, etc.
I'm not sure what it is supposed to vacuum up. It can't handle hair.. it chokes on anything bigger than a cheerio.
Miserable, awful product.Went into the garbage today.
I suspect it has probably already been discontinued.
PLEASE don't waste your money.

(More customer reviews)Purchased this Hoover 3 months ago. I currently have a Eureka Mighty Mite and decided that I wanted to have another lightweight canister vacuum for downstairs. I happened to come across the Hoover Bright Orange canister vacuum and thought it was so neat looking, and since it was a Hoover - how could you go wrong.

Well the problems are as follows: suction - fair at best; wand connecting to the head won't stay put - it keeps coming apart no matter how hard you push the wand into the head; the bag - since I wasn't getting any suction I checked the bag and found that though it was only half-filled, the bottom of the bag had disintegrated - this happened twice. I'm not sure if this was due to its close proximity to the filter/motor, but I have never had a bag do this on any other vacuum cleaner I've owned.

Sorry to say, but it's a great looking vacuum, but that's the only thing going for it.

Definitely buy the Eureka Mighty Mite if you're looking for a vacuum for light cleanups.

We have different flooring types, multiple levels in the house, animals, long hair and children, as well as living in a never ending construction zone in the center of allergy alley.Thus, I need a fairly heavy performing vacuum that manages flooring transitions as well as being able to do stairs and furniture.

If that weren't asking a lot already, I need it to be heavy enough to be multifiltered and high powered, but light enough that I can tote it up the stairs.

I've had the Platinum Hoover Canister for a 3 months now, and I've been pleased with the performance.This one replaced a previous Windtunnel, and while I miss a few things from the old version (like different power settings), all in all, the new version outperforms the older version.

Pros:
Suction is fantastic.Transitioning from area rugs to hardwoods and then to carpet is easy.Super long power cord lets you do multiple areas without having to unplug and replug. Filters, filters, filters.Allergies in the house have become noticeably better with this unit. It's a lot more quiet that previous versions.Powerhead is fantastic for getting critter hair off the furniture and drapes. Reset button on the main head is a wonderful thing, if like me, you have ninja shoelaces in unlikely places; such as those cleverly hidden by small children who have kicked their shoes under the couch.Almost no dust escapes the vacuum while it is running, and while it is all in one unit...but that leads us to the cons...

Cons:
Emptying this vacuum is not for the wheezy.You will get dirty, you will have a cloud of dust, you will curse yourself and the Hoover engineers if you make the mistake of emptying it in the house.Trust me on this one.The only good way to empty it is to take the canister out to your big trash can, standing upwind and praying.

As well, the canister has collection areas that cannot be touched, washed or otherwise cleaned.I realize that the engineering design behind this was to keep the user away from the dirt, but it also means that if something gets caked in there, like if you clean on a humid day...you're kinda hosed. (No pun intended....ok, a *little* intended.) It's as though the engineers had *seen* someone use a vacuum, but didn't actually vacuum anything themselves, and so hadn't quite worked through the final step of cleaning the vacuum itself.

Still, the minor inconvenience of what I think is a poor engineering decision on that one part, is outweighed by the performance, the price point, and the significant reliability that I've gotten from other Hoover products.

For a neat person with a small space, this vacuum is probably overkill...but for large houses filled with dirt tracking children and animals...this vac is a clear winner in it's price range.

(More customer reviews)Our Hoover wind tunnel vacuum was beginning to show some wear after 6 years (power cord insulation broken) so we decided to spend a little more money and buy a Dyson DC14. As soon as it was out of the box and turned on it made a horrible grinding racket so it went right back in the box and back to the store. I was gun shy about buying another vacuum and spent a lot more time trying them out. Having owned several Hoover vacuums including a carpet cleaner that I love, I began to think I shouldn't stray from a reliable brand but I was still open-minded as I shopped and used several different brands and models at the store. I found the Hoover Elite Cyclonic to be the best that I tried. It is very simple to operate, with common sense, intuitive hookups between the canister and hose and the hose and wand. The adjustable wand is heavy duty metal and clicks quickly and easily in and out of the power nozzle. The power nozzle itself has a light and a powered, spinning brush that I like. The cyclone canister holds plenty of dust and lint and is easy to empty. I was leery about buying a canister since I have always found uprights easy to move around but I have absolutely no trouble handling the Elite Cyclonic. The adjustable handle is a plus since I am tall and my wife is shorter, and we can both vacuum comfortably. An absolute plus given my worn electrical cord problem is the automatic cord reel, which winds the cord into the canister body at the touch of a spring-loaded button. The vacuum is powerful and pulled dust, lint, and hair out of the carpet as well as the Dyson I used, but with none of the noise and flimsyness that I experienced with that brand.
The ONLY minor complaint I have about this vacuum concerns the fact that since it is bagless, there is a slight dusty mess when emptying the canister container into the wastebasket. I believe this to be true with any of the bagless vacuums currently on the market, and it empties quite like the Dyson that I tried. This messy disposal is certainly offset by the convenience and cost savings of not having to buy replacement bags. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner!

1.) Small - when I first received my shipment, I was a bit taken aback.The Box was 4'x2'x 1-1/2'.Gosh it was huge and a bit heavy (for a vac). Slowly I opened the package to find another box.A bit relieved, the size seemed a bit more appropriate. I quickly opened the box to find another box.Now we are talking - once this box was opened, I saw what I wanted - a small, good looking, lightweight vac! The Stainless Steel did give the vac a professional appearance.

2.) Lightweight - Definitely meets the bill.No larger in width and length than my keyboard, there will be no problem moving this vac about.

3.) Powerful - I didn't expect much from all the claims (4 horsepower and 95" of waterlift), but this little vac made me a believer in power.This is the first time I only needed to use the crevice tool for awkward corners.Those little pieces of fuzz and hairs that usually needed picked up with your fingers came right up.The seems in upholstery that filled with dust - clean!

4.) Quiet - My subjective is opinion says this machine is quiet for such a powerful vac.In fact, my IQAir Air Cleaner is louder.Switch the 2-speed switch to low (works similar to my old shop vac and this speed); now we are talking quiet!

5.) Long Hose - The 6.5 foot hose, lightweight and flexible does not make the grade.It's adequate for my purposes, but I may purchase a hose extension.

CONS:
1.) The dust bag is quite small (approx. 7" diameter by 5" deep) - this is to be expected in such a tiny package.
2.) Tools look and feel cheap, which is quite typical for all brands.They are however, effective.

Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite Review

(More customer reviews)The Mighty Mite is a decent vacuum cleaner, especially for the money.I've been through 3 vacuums in 2 years, and I know junk when I see it now.And, for the most part, the Mighty Mite isn't junk.

Pros:It is very lightweight, has good reach with the telescoping pole, decent suction, and the pet hair attachment seems to work fine on my sofa and rugs.The HEPA filter is a definite plus and my hope is that the quantity of house dust will be seriously lowered.It is easy to move, but could use a longer cord than 20 ft.

Cons: The instructions don't even MENTION the pet hair attachment! The only references are on the box it comes in.The suction is adjusted by a rotating ring on the handle, exactly where you hand goes.So, if you accidentally move it to a more closed position while your hand is there, your skin gets sucked in with it. All the attachments do NOT go on the canister.There is provision for one small attachment and the crevice tool onboard.Everything else has to go elsewhere.Plus there is no easy way to deal with the hoses and telescoping rod.They don't fit together any special way and won't stand up.The power cord winds up underneath the vacuum and the plug should clip on to the cord.But, the clip on the plug doesn't actually fit over the cord.It is too small and too tight and makes indentations deeply into the cord, so you can't really safely use that 'feature'.

Sometimes, you have to wonder if the manufacturer ever even tried out the machine themselves.For example, the reason this is lightweight is that it uses incredible flimsy plastic hose.I suspect you could poke a finger through it if you tried hard enough.And, the canister itself is also plastic.That isn't theoretically bad, but what happens is, in a static-y environment, the hair and dust you are trying to get rid of is attracted to the hose and canister!So, you end up with a cleaner house and a vacuum completely covered in hairs and dust.That 'feature' isn't mentioned on the box...

Overall, I like this, in spite of all the negatives.Longevity is a bit of concern for the tools and hose, but it has suction, the disposable bag makes for a cleaner house, it is very easy to carry up and down the stairs and has a long enough reach to reach everywhere in my old house.I'm going to keep it...

Eureka 6833D Surfacemax Canister Vacuum Review

(More customer reviews)This turned out to be a pretty good little vacuum. Very lightweight, but then I've been using an ancient Rainbow and a bagless Dirt Devil, so just about ANY vacuum would feel lighter.

The 6833D has nice pickup power and the power beater bar is very effective. This model differs from the SurfaceMax in blue (don't see a numerical model identification) by having a different style handle grip, a 13 inch cleaning path and an automatic cord rewinder.

The on/off control for the beater bar is conveniently located on the handle grip, making it easy to go from smooth floor, without the power on, to your carpet or area rug - with the power then switched on. The adjustable suction control works great for vacuuming light weight scatter rugs.

What isn't so great is the lack of a swivel connection on the hose at either the handle or the canister. Makes maneuvering a bit clumsy, but not a huge problem because the unit is so lightweight.

This model came with a Turbo Nozzle/Power Paw, which only worked so-so for removing cat hair from upholstery, a dedicated Bare Floor Brush if you don't need the beater bar, an Upholstery Nozzle and an on board Crevice Tool and Dusting Brush fitted inside the canister. The upholstery nozzle was worthless as the first time I used it, then attempted to clean it using the bare vacuum wand, half of the glued-on "bristles" peeled off like false eyelashes and instantly disappeared into the depths of the canister! Oh well... I can use my old attachments left over from a prehistoric Kenmore.

I read a lot of reviews on many different vacuums before I decided on this one. I didn't want to spend a great deal of money, so I had to weigh which features were important to me. Lightweight, HEPA bag and filtering, which this model DOESN'T have - it has something called an Allergen FILTER, but no HEPA bag - my mistake. Unlike what was reported on another website, this vacuum has no problem picking up stray kitty litter and I don't see any marking on my floors from the hard plastic wheels. After wrestling with cords on both my old vacuums, the rewinder sure is nice to have.

True, the reports of fragile plastic parts and canister body are of concern, but that is what you exchange for "lightweight." Also, one may well suspect the hose will need replacing at some time in its lifetime. It is unlikely that I will be using this vacuum for 25 years as I have my old Rainbow, but ease of assembly and use rank high in my book. So, if you are looking for a manageable, uncomplicated everyday type vacuum, this will probably do the job.

(More customer reviews)Overall I like this vac for the price.It is not comparable to it $200 counterparts, but for the $69 I paid for it, it was well worth the money.I think this vac is comparable to vacs in the $80 or less range.
PROS: I have a bad back so I love that it is so light and easy to move.Empting it is so easy, just press one little button and your done. I also like how they separated the filter area from the dust area so you don't have to shake out the filter each time you use it.It works great for places like the bathroom where there are bath mats; it goes right onto them without sucking up the corners or chewing up the rug. It is low profile so it goes under furniture and around items very easy. The cord retractor works great, I have never used a cord retractor that actually works all the way to the end, but this one does!
Cons: The vacuum head is a little cheap; it feels flimsy and has a hard time on carpet.The spinning head is moved by the suction, not by the motor, so it doesn't spin very well on carpet, you have to baby it a bit. It does have a hard time picking up small thing, you have to pick up the head and put it right over the object, then it will pick it up.
If your house has wall-to-wall plush carpet this vac is not for you.It has a very hard time rolling on thick carpet. If you have almost all hardwoods like me, it is great. I have 2 boys and a black lab so we put our vac to good use in our home.
If you are looking for a very nice sturdy vacuum that is quality made you are going to have to spend more money, but if you want something that will get you by for a few years while you are saving up for that Dyson, this is a good bet.

It was difficult to find a model that would transition easily between wood and carpet. This model is excellent on the hardwood and tile floors, but it is not the greatest on the carpet. The suction is great and easily adjusted from the handle. It is easy to dump the dirt from the bagless collection area. It is a little small, so if fills up fast. The only other issue I have with this is that the cord is very short - so you have to keep replugging it in all over the house. Otherwise, a very lightweight, nicely designed vacuum. I am very pleased with it.
