Product Description:
The Frigidaire WFCB PureSourcePlus Refrigerator water filter fits most Frigidaire refrigerators made before 2001. It replaces frigidaire part numbers 5303917752, RF-200, RC200, RC-200, RC-101, and Sears Kenmore part number 46-9906, used in Kenmore refrigerators that are made by Frigidaire (model numbers starting with 253). Most refrigerators with this water filter have a sliding month marker built into the fridge above the filter housing. The PureSourcePlus filter cartridge itself has white ends, like the one pictured. It improves the taste and odor of the water and removes the following impurities: 99.99% of Cysts, 99.80% of Particulates (Class I), 99.70% of Turbidity, 99.30% of Lead, 97.80% of Chlorine (Class I), 94.2% of 2,4-D (a herbicide), 94.9% of Atrazine (a herbicide), and 87.5% of Toxaphene (a pesticide). It Does Not Remove Flouride. Frigidaire recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months OR if the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during a move) OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water or ice.

(More customer reviews)This filter is a very poorly designed product.Our filter that came with our Frigidaire Professional was a solid filter, the replacement has three tissue thin carbon sheets as a filter. I'm not sure why there is such a difference in products, as this is the recommended filter for my refrigerator, but I do not recommend it, I will shop for a generic replacement.

(More customer reviews)I've been using this filter model for two years. I'm on my second unit. It works about the same as other inline filters I've used with regard to taste of the water. It seems not to last as long, but maybe my waster quality has changed, but it lasts long enough considering the price. I do like the quick connect fitting system. My filter is located in an awkward location, and not having to snug up compression fitting anymore to copper tubing is a big help.

I've read other reviews comment on black particles.You have to flush out the filter before you hook up the outlet end to your refrigerator. Just like any other filter. Maybe a gallon at most. I just do it until I don't see black particles coming out. The instructions say to do this as well, but I think it says to use more water. That's just CYA though.

(More customer reviews)After a month of use to get it broken in I believe I can share my brief experience with this filter. First off, installation was really easy. Less than 30 minutes (don't forget to 'flush' it for five minutes). The water I had previously smelled and tasted like pool water. It seemed to have a more than acceptable amount of chlorine going by smell alone. As soon as I plugged this filter in instantly odorless tasteless water came out. Also, very recently some maintenance was done to the city pipes turning all the water in the house brown for a short while. Sinks, toilets, hose, everything that is except the fridge attached to this filter was clearly brown. Hands down side by side comparison this filter does an awesome job. If you want a better sense of security and want to remove the nasties that end up in your water get this filter.

(More customer reviews)I have had my Frigidare refrigerator for about 5 years now.The filters used to have a thick housing over the two smaller cylinders and it worked wonderfully. I never experienced any problems with those filters.About 2 years ago they changed the design taking away the outer housing leaving only the two smaller cylinders.Since then I have been through 8 filters in two years.When you cover the outlet hole and blow into the inlet hole, you can see the water spirt out of the side of the cartridge.It doesn't always occur at the top seal; however, many times the leak is in the plastic but you can see where the seam glue has run down to the spot where it's leaking.It appears that the glue they are using is dissolving the weak plastic and causing it to leak.I'm not sure what you can do about it but I just save my receipts and take them back about every 2-4 months when they fail.It's a pain but the manufacturer won't do anything about it.I just won't buy another Frigidare in the future!
