Evaporative Humidifier Stainless Steel 15 Gallon Review

Evaporative Humidifier Stainless Steel 15 Gallon

In my quest to replace the fake woodgrain 1970s-vintage Sears whole house humidifier that we've used for years, I first purchased an EssickAir (Bemis) TD6-710. The unit had all the looks, size, and features we wanted - a really slick machine. The only problem was that it was severely design-flawed.
[...]
There is nothing on the market as sleek-looking as that unit. It's sad that it is so flawed. The hardware store was gracious to take it back used and unboxed, and they decided to return all 3 units they still had back to the manufacturer.

Wal-Mart had the Boston Innovative Products EH-01-342 for $109, so we picked one up. This unit doesn't have the electronic humidity meters, out-of-water indicator, or super-easy refill of the EssickAir, but it is solidly built and so far does not overflow the water basin like the EssickAir. There are 2 two-gallon containers in it for water. Each has a handle for ease of carrying. Getting them out involves removal of a pop-out screen in the back of the unit, so you don't have the convenience of frontfill. The 3-speed evaporator fan in typically noisy, even on the lowest setting. Cold air blows out the front of the unit, making placement of it in the room a concern of comfort. The unit is taller but narrower that those boxy larger units, making it a little less invasive. Time will tell how it fits into our home. I may update this in a few weeks with further experience.

2-1-07 Update
After using this machine for a little while, one thing I cannot understand. Why doesn't it have an out-of-water indicator? It seems crazy that you have to attune your ear to the mild grating noise that indicates a water refill is necessary. Why put the water pump through all that excessive wear? Another thing that can be annoying is the short cycle time. I don't know how the humidity sensor is set up, but the unit turns on for a few minutes, turns off for a few minutes, turns on for a few minutes... why not design a delay in the timing so that it wouldn't be so jarring with all this cycling? I'm thinking now that a 3-star rating is more appropriate, although it still beats most of the competition that I have tried.

I have owned this humidifier for a little less than a month and have yet to encounter any of the problems of my fellow reviewers. My unit does not leak unless I place it on an uneven surface (which I do not) and it is very quiet.I feel much more comfortable during the day and sleep very well at night.I am extremely satisfied with this unit.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Dry air is pulled through the system and a quiet fan blows out invisible, moisture-balanced air. Unwanted minerals and bacteria from the water are trapped inside the filter. When the unit is running you will not see or feel a mist. You will know your humidifier is putting moisture into the air as you watch the water level in your tank decrease throughout the day.

Crane Cow Cool Mist Humidifier Review

Crane Cow Cool Mist Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although this humidifier looks like a toy, it works perfect fine.It is not the most high performance humidifier and it does not have any additional feature, like UV lamp or water filter, but it performs extremely well for its price.I bought it at around $30, before the price increased.Like all ultrasonic humidifier, it produces small water droplets using high energy acoustic action. The droplets are then delivered out using a small fan.It is extremely quiet that you will barely notice the sound even when you are going to sleep. The specification sheet states the power consumption is 32 W maximum, but it consumes less power in practice.Humidification is not necessary higher by operating the humidifier at higher power. At maximum power, the water droplets generated are very large and they will fall to the floor without increasing humidity. Thus, the humidifier should be operated at optimum power to generate finer water mist. Therefore, the operation power is lower than 32 W.For the same reason, the humidifer delivers 15-24 hours of performance with a galleon of water, instead of the 11 hour stated on the specification sheet.
It is important to point out, there is no extra replacement cost because this unit has no extra features. For this reason, it cannot eliminate mineral or bacteria in the water. So if there are minerals or bacterias, they will also be dispersed in the air.Filtered or distilled water should be used if tap water has minerals.Water should also be changed everyday and the unit should be clean every week to avoid bacteria buildup.I have noticed that you can put in trace amount of hydrogen peroxide to prevent bacterial growth.I suggest using about 1 teaspoon of home use (3%) hydrogen peroxide in a galleon of water.Doing so, I noticed that I do not have to change water everyday.Make sure you do not put too much peroxide, and do not put the humidifier next to your head during sleep after you added peroxide.

*Update*
Although the instruction manual suggests cleaning the water tank (top unit) with mild clorox blench solution, it does not mean you can clean the bottom unit with blench.I made the mistake and the paint/coating on the ultrasonic part is falling apart. At least this is why I think the coating is coming off.Now it cannot be used. Also my water has too much minerals in it, even with the PUR faucet filter, the humidifier still produces white dust.A reverse osmosis water purifier might do the job, but I do not have one.Good while it last, but I will have to get a different kind of humidifier for my next winter.I also like to down rate this humidifier to a 4 star, but Amazon does not allow me to change my star rating. It is still a pretty good for its low price ($30).*

*Super Update*Crane has now offer a mineral filter to minimize white dust.I have not use one, but I thought readers should be made aware of it.It is about $10-11 and it lasts ~2 months.

Vicks Vaporizer with Night-Light Review

Vicks Vaporizer with Night-Light

I have this exact unit. It works constantly, with no problems at all.
A pinch of salt, and it steams away and shuts off automatically when low.
I love the simplicity of this unit.
After years of using all the different fancy new kinds of humidifiers that need constant cleaning and special filters and antibacterial crap, this is very nice. No muss, no fuss, just moisture in the air.
The black stuff in the water is normal and is not gross, as someone said in another review.

Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier

I've owned this humidifier for a couple of months now.The features that I like best about it are: it regulates the ambient humidity (i.e. the unit has a humidity sensor for the room) when it reaches the desired level it automatically stops the mist; also it gives you an indication when the unit needs to be cleaned (pretty simple process); and most important the unit stops when there's not enough water (again a little indicator flashes for your attention) - furthermore, the unit is very well designed and has a very contemporary look - highly recommended!

Vornado HU1-0022-06 Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

Vornado HU1-0022-06 Ultrasonic Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I live in Chicago where the winters get very cold and very dry.I finally decided to do something about it a year ago and bought a humidifier.I went through a series of 5 humidifiers before I finally came across the Vornado Ultrasonic, which has been the best by far.

I started with a cheap Holmes humidifier that basically boils water and creates steam. The problem is that the heating element gets caked with residue and needs to be cleaned just about every other day and it's very difficult to clean. It also tends to give off a rather bad odor.

After returning the holmes, I purchased a Vornado evaporative humidifier. What I've found is that evaporative humidifiers simply don't create enough moisture. The first Vornado was a bust.

My next attempt was a Sharper Image Ultrasonic humidifier, which is very simple to use, easy to clean and provides a good deal of moisture.Unfortunately, much of the moisture simply falls to the ground right around the machine.I wasn't 100% sold.

I returned the Sharper Image unit to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and found two typically expensive ultrasonic humidifiers on sale for half off.One was the Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier http://www.amazon.com/Air-O-Swiss-32838-Ultrasonic-Humidifier/dp/B000J4I4RI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1262363031&sr=1-7The other was the Vornado.I decided to get them both with the intention of returning the one that I did not like as much. The Air-O-Swiss is a very elegant looking machine with lots of controls and settings. At the top, it has a plastic piece which lets you control the direction the moisture flows (it can go two directions at once).I found that it had the same problem as the Sharper Image unit, but I placed it on a 2' plant stand, directed the moisture to either side and that seemed to keep the moisture from settling on the floor.

The Vornado Unit's settings were slightly more complicated for me to figure out, but we're talking the difference between 2 minutes and 5 minutes here. The Vornado uses a fan to push the moisture further up so that it evaporates in the air BEFORE it hits the ground.PERFECT!I don't have to put it on a stand or worry that I'll find water seaping into my hardwood floors.Where the Air-O-Swiss is super quiet, the Vornado has a fan (that pushes the moisture up) and thus makes a bit more noise.I personally don't find the noise distracting at all and neither does my wife.Noise aside, it is the fan that really makes this the perfect humidifier because this is the ONLY humidifier of the many I tested that actually seems to get more moisture into the air than on the ground.I wound up getting two Vornado Ultrasonic Humidifiers for my 1800 square foot condo and have noticed a substantial improvement.I highly recommend this product.

One last thing... both the Vornado and the Air-O-Swiss have filters, which is nice because you want to be filling your home with clean moisture.

I am getting ready to throw away my child's 2nd Thomas the Tank Humidifier in 4 months. There is a small piece of plastic in the tank that covers the night light on the base that has broken on both of the units.Without this little piece of plastic, the water will not stay in the tank and pours out EVERYWHERE! It is a very cute concept and very appealing to children, but it is just not sturdy enough.

AIR-O-SWISS 7133 Humidifier Review

AIR-O-SWISS 7133 Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been pricing and comparing the substantial number of humidifiers on the market and I am glad I settled on the Air-O-Swiss. Despite its higher price, I am quite satisfied with its functions, control, design and specifically, its quiet operation. I was looking to pay between $70-150 for a quiet, low-maintenance model to add humidity to my [very dry] 10x12' bedroom. I purchased it at a local store for the same price as listed on Amazon; I am glad I was able to see [and hear] this model in operation.

There is NO sound, even at the highest setting. I'm a light sleeper and cannot fathom a bedroom appliance that even approaches a dull hum.

The visible mist generated by this model is pleasant for me and my pets.

I have been refilling each morning, as I have had the device on a high setting and running nonstop. The compartment becomes about half-empty after a full day at this setting. Refilling is a snap.

The ability to have cool and warm settings is a big plus, since the jury is still out regarding the negatives and rewards of either mode.

The system has been running clean and I am certain this will continue to be the case with a modicum of effort. The cost of the filter and the silver stick is not intimidating and the recommended three-week maintenance check is reasonable.

The design is quite fetching. Minimalist and fetching.

I have it sitting on the floor and there is no dampness on the carpet as mentioned by owners of other brands. This tells me that this model is doing a good job of propelling the mist into the air.

My roommate recently paid $29 for a smaller Holmes humidifier. The Holmes is downright deafening and I am sure she would have paid the difference for an Air-O-Swiss. Silent operation is really important.

The only possible shortcoming is the hygrometer. It is not entirely intuitive: the machine is to shut off after the desired humidity percentage is met, yet I have yet to see the model shut itself off. Turning it off manually is not a big deal.

I took a big step purchasing an air purifier, but this purchase has made a significant difference in my bedtime and bedroom comfort. I've had some winter nights with seriously labored [allergy, smoke and pet-related] breathing but I find this device has given me a little peace of mind and tangible change.

Coughing? Wheezing? Throat or sinuses feel irritated? During those winter months, especially when staying indoors, heated air tends to be dry and that dryness may cause upper respiratory irritations. Most household and office heating solutions have the undesirable side effect of excessively drying the available breathing air. Using a humidifier helps moisten indoor air. The AIR-O-SWISS 7133 Humidifier uses high frequency vibration to generate micro-fine mist, so that breathing does not induce discomfort due to dry nasal passages and throat. You can select the temperatures of the mist from cool to warm. Effectively relieve your dry nose, throat, lips, and skin with the ability of selecting the choice of dispersing warm or cool mist. Its sleek design has easy to use controls and a transparent removable water tank. Germs, bacteria, and minerals that may be present in water are filtered from the mist using a replaceable demineralization cartridge (1 included) and ionic silver stick (not included). Overall, this humidifier is designed for your comfort and ease-of-mind in dry environments. Help shake away those winter blues with Air-o-Swiss 7133. I love this product. We recently had terrible water damage from a storm in our beautiful finished basement. We had the water vacuumed out from the carpet and cleaned up but the basement smelled like wet dirty dog - we were concerned that it was going to smell much worse as it slowly dried out. We put a dehumidifier and our 2 GPs in the basement and let them all run. After everything finally dried out (which took a week) there has been no lingering odor or mold and if you walked into the room you would not even know we had water covering the entire carpeted floor last month. We use the Ionic Breeze GPs in different rooms of the house all year and we love them - they keep the air clean and fresh and we have never had any problems with them. As an everyday user - I strongly recommend this product.

Honeywell HUT-102M Quietcare Ultrasonic Mini Tower Humidifier Review

Honeywell HUT-102M Quietcare Ultrasonic Mini Tower Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, this humidifier is quiet.I keep it next to my bed and the very faint noise doesn't bother me at all.I use only distilled water in it.That's a little expensive, but I can get one-gallon jugs at Wal-Mart for sixty four cents, so it's better than having white dust all over the room. This model has a "white dust" filter, but most such filters are iffy at best.

Now for the problems.Filling is a pain.If it's not completely empty, water remains in the base, which tends to drip and spill when you lift the tank off for re-filling.So I carry the whole unit to the sink just to make sure I don't get water all over my carpet.(Water can spill if you don't keep the unit level.)Further, the refill opening is on the bottom, so you have to turn the tank upside down to fill it.The tank top is slanted, so you can't set it down. You have to hold the tank with one hand, and fill with the other. It's a very clumsy process.

The last thing I have to say is the blue light is incredibly annoying. It lights up your whole bedroom and can't be turned off.I wrap a towel around it.What were they thinking?Sure, it looks cool, until you try to go to sleep.

Overall, though, it works nicely and has been quiet, which is exactly why I bought it and am keeping it.If you are elderly or arthritic, the girations you need to go through to fill it may cause you to look elsewhere.

And with Honeywell's ultrasonic Quietcare technology, this humidifier is 95 percent quieter than other humidifiers. Other features include auto shut-off when tank is out of water, variable moisture settings, easy grab handle for convenient carrying, removable water tank, and an illuminated tank window that allows visibility to water level and doubles as a nightlight.

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My family and I moved from Southern California (where we slept with the windows open nearly year round for wonderful, well rested sleep) to Phoenix, Arizona (where the humidity hovers at most to 15% in my house according to my hygrometer.) After a month (and before we got the humidifier), my kids (3 and 1) were absolutely suffering. During the night, they were choking and hacking, wheezing and just plugged up. I was no different. Needless to say, our sleep was badly affected. I knew it was the air situation. After 3 nights of researching the different types of humidifiers, I finally settled on buying two Air O Swiss 7144 units (one for each kid's room). Although it was expensive, I buy things for the long haul and figured better to spend up front then have problems with cheaper models down the road. I have since turned it on absolutely every single night for them and the difference is short of miraculous. Here are some points: 1- a full tank lasts two nights running at 8 hours a night with the windows closed and the door nearly shut (about an inch ajar at most)

2- tank is not difficult to fill. I use one 3 gallon water bottle
(normally used for my drinking water dispense) to completely fill up both humidifier units

3- to maximize space and thus get the most water into the humidifier, I removed the demineralization cartridge and use only reverse osmosis drinking water for my unit. I have had ZERO WHITE DUST. The R.O. water is purified enough that there are no remaining minerals to be churned out as white dust. This trick also saves me from having to replace the cartridge. (BTW, our tap water is VERY hard so I didn't want to use it even with the demineralization cartridge because why make the machine work harder than it has to?) R.O. water is perfect and again, NO WHITE DUST AT ALL!!!!

4- It's so quiet, it's ridiculous. I LOVE that.

5- The warm mist feature is perfect. It does not raise the temperature of the room so it's never like a sauna. The air leaving the machine even at warm mist feels somewhat cool (and the first night I kept checking in on the kids to make sure I wasn't freezing them) but the unit actually heats the water to 104 degrees which isjust the right temp at maintaining room temp (no moist saunas!!) and/or preventing steam burn to your finger in case a curious little one chooses to wave his/her hand in the mist.

6- I've religiously used the units each night for the last 3 months with absolutely no problem.

7- The buttons don't light up or create distracting glows. Important for me because I wanted the kids' rooms to remain relatively dark as that's what they're used to.

8- There is no leaking or condensation on the unit. The mist is so fine that it evaporates before it touches the little folding dinner tray table that I have each unit placed on. The carpet underneath doesn't feel soggy or anything. It truly produces an ultrafine mist that dissipates almost immediately.

9- I can adjust the flow and humidity to my liking (to get 2 nights' worth of output from one tank, I set it on warm mist at the lowest air flow at 55% humidity)

10- It automatically shuts off when it runs out of water. There is a blinking light that indicates that the machine is on "On" but there's no water. I usually press the off button the after the second night's use. If I forget to press off and fill the tank up on the third night, I noticed that since the machine is technically "on" (even though there's no sound or movement indicating that), as soon as I put the filled tank back on the unit, it immediately starts working on the settings I last set it on.

11- I have yet to use the cool mist (since it's still winter) but I read that it actually helps to maintain (at the very least) or slightly lower the room temp which is convenient in summer months.

All in all, I love this machine. By the way, on a few occasions when my older child needed me to sleep next to him until he fell back asleep (usually a nightmare woke him up), I noticed within 10-15 minutes that my breathing was VERY different in his room where the unit had been running for several hours into the night. No clogged sinuses or difficult inhalation. Once he was appropriately tucked in and I would go back to my room, within 5-10 minutes, my breathing would get adversely affected. That's how dry the air is in our house. So, that's why after 3 months of enjoying how well it's worked in the kids' rooms, my husband and I are looking forward to our own good sleep after just purchasing our 3rd machine.

Warm Mist humidifiers aggravate sinus problems so *do not* use warm mist for sinus problems.Cool Mist are great for Sinus and preventing Croup but must use filters due to the nature of waterbourne mold in cool air technology. I use my humidifiers for a 160 sf and 145 sf rooms. I keep them on low each night, and use about half the tank. My filters last around six weeks because I do not use the pro-tech bulbs (they do not work). I use BestAir Water Treatment tablets, extra strength (the pink box.) I bleach treat the water tank plus vinegar clean the base every 2 1/2 months. Yes, cool mist humidifiers make noise (warm mist sterilize with the hot steam that comes out, are quiet) but this is the quietest one I've found. If the noise of a clothes dryer next to your bedroom bothers your sleep, then a cool mist will bug you too. I get my filters for 7 bucks each (I buy 6 per shipment). 2HT Bionaire Humidifier Water Treatment Tablets (12 Pack)

We live outside the US in a country that is very dry almost all year round and use the humidifier with a transformer. We have had it running constantly since we received it two weeks ago.We ordered the replacement filters from LearningCurve.com and use filtered tap water. It is a simple, easy to use humidifier and I would recommend it to anyone who has a problem with dry air.We bought it mainly because we were having trouble sleeping because the air is so dry. It definitely makes a difference.

Germ Guardian H2000 Manual Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

Germ Guardian H2000 Manual Ultrasonic Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Germ Guardian H-2000 is the best ultrasonic humidifier I've seen in a decade. But that only means that it works. The humidifier is well-crafted but thoughtlessly designed. I was pleased with a couple of ultrasonics that I had years ago. When their motors eventually died and I needed replacements, I found that ultrasonic humidifiers had all but disappeared from the market by the mid-1990s. So I bought evaporative humidifiers instead. The trouble with evaporatives is that they require a wick, which molds easily and pervasively and must be replaced at least every two weeks. That's expensive. It costs me $150 per year to run each of my evaporative humidifiers. I'd rather have ultrasonics, which are less prone to mold, less expensive to operate, and quieter. When ultrasonic humidifiers reappeared on the market a few years ago, I bought some....and returned them all. They broke within weeks and left puddles on the floor.

This brings me to the Germ Guardian H-2000. If you want an ultrasonic humidifier that isn't fit for the trash, you have to pay more than $100. This H-2000 seems to be well-made. Happily, you can set it directly on the floor if you like. I have run it for days sitting on hardwood, and the floor is not even damp. There are little compartments for storing the power cord and for the air filter. A small brush is provided for cleaning the inside of the unit, though I don't know what use it would be. The humidifier barely makes a sound. The controls are straightforward. You choose cool or warm mist, then turn the humidity dial to the level of output you desire. A blue LED lights when the power is on, and a red LED indicates when the tank needs refilling. I've never had any trouble with white dust from this humidifier.

On the downside, the 1.4 gallon tank has a handle only on top, so it is difficult to balance the tank to fill it from the bottom. It's also rounded on top, so you can't set the tank down to fill it either. Remember the days when all humidifier tanks were flat on both ends and had a handle on each for ease of filling? No more. Usually ultrasonic humidifiers are easy to clean if they should mold, because all the innards are exposed. But the H-2000 has an optional warm mist, so water passes through a concealed channel as it goes from the tank to the vibrating disc, where it is presumably exposed to heating coils. You could run ammonia through the channel to kill mold, but there would be no way to remove slime. The tank is infused with silver nanoparticles to retard microbe growth, but machine's body isn't. Strange, because mold growth in humidifiers never starts in the tank. The on/off knob would benefit from some ridges. It's so smooth that I can't grip it unless my hands are perfectly dry.

The Germ Guardian H-2000 takes 30 hours to empty the 1.4 gallon tank with the humidifier set on its highest output. That's an output of 0.047 gallons of water per hour. My evaporative humidifiers put 0.083 gallons per hour into the air, nearly twice as much. For this reason, the H-2000 is best suited to a small bedroom, placed close to the bed. In the "warm" mode, the water is heated to 80 degrees F. The mist is warm in the base, the column (spout guide), and where it comes out of the spout. But by the time it gets a couple of inches from the machine, the mist is cool. So I see little point in the warm mist feature. If you want an ultrasonic humidifier, I won't try to dissuade you from this one. In spite of its deficiencies, it's the best one I've found in recent years. But it's only suitable for small rooms.

Product Description:
Germ Guardian H2000 Ultrasonic Humidifier uses nano-silver technology to fight the growth of mold and bacteria in the water so germ-free water is vaporized into the room. The ultrasonic technology is virtually silent when running. There are no evaporating pads or wicks to clean or replace. This product even lets you know when it's time to refill the water tank. There is also the option for warm or cold humidification.

Venta LW44 Air Humidifier and Purifier All-in-one Review

Venta LW44 Air Humidifier and Purifier All-in-one

(More customer reviews)
Update on January 15, 2008:

Yesterday, the motor in my Venta unit began making a grinding sound after nearly six year of flawless operation.I called Venta customer service this afternoon. After wating a rather long time on hold, I was connected to a very pleasant man, George, who asked me to put the phone next to the motor so he could hear the noise. I did, and he did.

Without a moment's hesitation, George said he would have a new motor shipped at no cost to me, and that delivery could be expected within 5 - 7 business days.

It's always a pleasant surprise to find a company standing unquestioningly behind their warranty. If only more understood that's all it takes to create loyal customers.

Update on September 17, 2007:

I'm pleased to report , my review, below, is still true in every detail. This product has been a terrific investment.

*****

I live in a desert~like New York City apartment and have owned my Venta Air Washer for almost exactly two years.During this time it has been operating on the "high" setting, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The Air Washer lives up to all of the manufacturer's claims.

The Air Washer is a product of fanatical German engineering, over~design and bullet~proof construction, which accounts for it's rather grotesque price. However, I have owned products of inferior engineering and construction that have had to be replaced after one or two seasons. It is obvious I will own my Air Washer for many years to come.

The principles of operation could not be more simple (it's like a High School science project developed into a luxury product):

1) A fan blows room air straight down into a reservoir of water.

2) In this reservoir of water, a few dozen disks are slowly rotating to multiply the surface area that is wet.

3) Because you are blowing air onto a enlarged wet surface you are multiplying the rate of evaporation.

4) Humidified air is exhausted out of the Air Washer through vents in the side.

THIS WORKS.

On the "high" setting the water reservoir needs to be refilled daily in my apartment (this is highly dependent on your local weather or heating cycle).I end up carrying a couple gallons of water to the device or carrying the device to the bathtub and then back to its spot in my livingroom.

The design of the Air Washer is "neutral."It sits unobtrusive and un~noticed in a corner. It is nearly silent. It is built like a tank: It would be a challenge to damage this product on purpose.

Why not Five Stars?

The Venta Air Washer consumes expendables. You need a water treatment solution to prevent mineral deposits forming on the rotating disks mentioned above (weekly).AND you need a periodic cleaning solution to remove deposits that develop pn the bottoms and walls of the reservoir.I have tried operating the Air Washer without these things. They are required for optimal performance.

Like the device itself, the Venta treatment and cleaning solutions work perfectly and simply. But, THE EXPENDIBLES ARE EXPENSIVE!Assume youy will spend US$50.00 per year.

Also, you would think that for a company selling a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR humidifier, the Venta aroma therapy scents would smell a bit less like a Central American bordello (not that I've ever seen one of those).Skip these even if they're free samples.

If you want the very best at any price, buy this product.

I am not affiliated with either the manufacturer or Amazon.

Product Description:
Air that feels good must be properly humidified. Heated air dries out the mucous membranes (weakening your resistance to viral infections). Overheated dry air makes you feel tired and listless. Your skin dries out, your plants suffer and your wooden furniture starts to show cracks. The Venta-Airwasher is ideal to reduce chapped lips, stuffed up noses, sore throats, and dried out eyes. Protect your valuable wood furniture and floors as well as musical instruments from drying out. Dry indoor air is difficult to clean; every movement causes millions of particles to be stirred up and become airborne. However, humidification keeps a large number of airborne particles down on the floor; making the two-in-one humidifier/purifier? more effective than air purifiers alone. The Venta Airwasher humidifies the air while simultaneously drawing in and removing dust, pollen and other contaminating particles down to 10 microns ( 10/1000 mm ) in size from the air. Easy maintenance. No filters to change or clean or cumbersome containers to fill. The simple design and convenient access to the tank allow for easy cleaning. 3 gal. tank capacity. Measures 16.5" x 11.8" x 13". 3 speeds. Humidifies/purifies up to 720 sq. ft. 10 Year Limited Warranty. Made in Germany
