(More customer reviews)I have owned this filter for a couple years now and it works brilliantly, it always quickly gets the water crystal clear after I have muddied up the water from cleaning the aquarium, it is very easy to use and clean except for the biological media bouncing all over the place like bacteria infused Kix cereal and the priming feature is brilliant. Also this thing is in the open in my bedroom and I can't hear a thing as long as I put a pad under it so it doesn't vibrate against floor. The only complaint I have is the water pressure dropping over the years. When I first bought it, the ecco 2234 would put so much pressure into the tank it turned it into a river with the current, the fish used to go swim in the current like salmon. Unfortunately no amount of cleaning and scrubbing and replacing filters gets the pressure and water circulation back to what it was when I first bought it. I had purchased this for a tank that is half the size the filter is rated for so the filter does absolutely fine even with the weak pressure. I would recommend this filter, however make sure you buy one that is rated for a much larger tank.

If you can get someone to answer the phone or return your messages all they will do is make you jump through hoops until you are so frustrated you just give up. The whole time your fish suffer. I purchased an XP filter and it quit working after 2 weeks. You're better off spending your money on ANY OTHER FILTER.

Eheim ECCO External Canister Filter 2236 Review

(More customer reviews)We've had aquatic turtles for about a year now, that we keep in a 75 gallon aquarium. (soon moving to a 125gal. tank) Anybody that keeps turtles knows how much work can be involved in keeping their tank clear and clean. When we first started we were unsure of what we needed to do the job but we knew we needed something that could keep up with the demand turtles require in water filtration. Our inquires at the local pet supply store led us to use a Fluval canister system. This is also a great system but after a short time we came to realize that it just wasn't enough so we went out and got a Marineland Magnum 350 to compliment the Fluval. Between the two the tank was adequately filtered, but cleaning the Magnum was a pain, the Fluval was a little easier but still not as user friendly as the Eheim. Because filtration was just adequate we started feeding the turtles in a separate smaller tank to try and minimize food and turtle feces from the main tank. This helped quite alot but we still required yet another filtration system as we had moved the Fluval to the smaller tank. This is when we purchased the Eheim 2236 system. This filter in my opinion is much easier to maintain than he Magnum and Fluval systems. The only down side is priming the pump after cleaning as the self priming feature does not work as well as the others but it is, by far, much much easier to disassemble and clean than the other two. Had the priming mechanism worked better I would have given this a 5/5. This is our second Eheim 2236. We had to replace the original because our child did not reestablish water flow after a cleaning, and the pump head overheated and died.

(More customer reviews)OK, there just simply isn't a better filter on the market. With the intake on the bottom and the exhaust on the top, there is simply no place for water to bypass the media and hence the filtration is far more efficient. Some people complain that the filter is quite difficult to clean. However, the manual shows an easy way to do this. I have kept mine without cleaning for 3 months or and my heavily planted fresh water aquarium has been doing great. The media is reusable and reusable and reusable. Get my point? :-)
They are extremely efficient. A bit more expensive that the rest of canister filters out in the market. But in the long run, these are better since they last longer and the rarely break down.

(More customer reviews)This filter is dysfunctional from the beginning.The primer does not work.The "in" and "out" flow valves are reversed (you would expect "out" to mean water out of the filter and into the tank, but no, it means "out" of the tank and into the filter; vice versa for the "in" valve).No matter how many times you pump the primer, you cannot get water to flow through from your tank and through the cannister.

Canister Aquarium Filter 265 GPH Review

(More customer reviews)ok so this pump bucket...is about 1.6 galons comes with 3 trays in it. you can load them with whatever you see fit to run whatever type of tank you want however they do come with the filter media you need...so you wont have to go out and buy some.

i own two. both 1000 due to the fact that i didnt hear very good things about the larger models and because i run a 75 saltwater with fish inverts and loads of live rock.

ive had one for 6 months now and i liked it so much and i liked the PRICE so much i decided to buy another one of the same type.

i dont use the rubber hoses and fittings they come with altho they are great. i actually did some diy plumming and have them both hooked togheder on the intake but sparate utputs.

water flow is good they are very quiet and if you plan on running them in a cabinet you wont hear them run at all.

the disconect feature is great but sometimes when i unhook the pump i spill a bit of water. not from the intake or output hoses...its the water thats left in the canister...but its only id say about as much as you can fit in a tablespoon.

as far as priming goes...you hook up the hoses...you pump the top button hard about 5 times and then by suction it will get its own airbubbles out.

NOTE at first it will blow bubbles untill it fills itself with water but this is for less than a few seconds. after 3 minutes if you still see slight bubbles coming out that means you didnt set up the hoses rightand you might have an air leak but thats not the pumps fault.once properly set this will be the last of your worries especially when it comes to maintenance.

if you buy this pump you wont regret it.

Hagen Fluval Canister Filter FX5 Review

(More customer reviews)I've been running the FX5 on a 125 gallon turtle setup for about two months now.Setup is very easy, especially if you have previous experience with canister filters.I saw another review that stated that the filter was noisy, but mine is pretty quiet even when the tank stand's door is open and the filter is exposed to the room.My flowrate has been relatively high, especially considering that it is packed with biomax and polishing pads.It is important to note that unlike other Fluval canisters, this beast actually filters water from top down, so you'll want your finer media like polishing pads in the bottom basket.

I docked a star because I am not a big fan of the design of the internal media baskets, nor do I like the cheap plastic 'T' rods that are used to pull them out.Also, despite the stop valves on the intake and outtake hoses, be ready to clean-up water when detaching for routine cleaning.

Although the Eheim Professional Canister Filters are arguably better for certain purposes, you aren't going to beat the value of the Fluval FX5.The features and specs you get are equivalent to several much more expensive filter options.

(More customer reviews)We bought this after doing a fair bit of research. We're "back" into aquaria after a 20 year hiatus and started with a 10g tank but then quickly upgraded to a tall 30g. It was very easy to set up. The instructions are pretty amazingly clear (such a rarity these days). We have since installed an in-line UV light (algae bloom!) and it was a piece of cake due to the simple design of the 205. It's whisper quiet and provides plenty of outflow which the fish love to swim against! I am sold on this product and the company and will definitely get the 305 when we get a bigger tank (in the works, don't you know!).
