(More customer reviews)Our Amana Side-by-Side stopped cooling late in the afternoon the day before Thanksgiving.We bought ice and stuffed the fridge, then rushed to shop before the stores closed.This is not the way I like to shop.I like to do research first. But because we must keep Insulin chilled but not frozen we didn't have the luxury of research time and Internet shopping.

I knew I wanted this style because I love bottom freezers, it is easy to see items in the back, and it is energy efficient.

None of the stores we were able to get to before closing time carried this model.I found that most brands had freezer drawers that were extremely difficult to open.Some I couldn't open at all.

I was worried about buying American because I knew Whirlpool had bought the companies and we once had a Whirlpool that was nothing but trouble.Our son bought a bottom-freezer Amana after the company had been purchased by Whirlpool.He said he was pleased with it, had had no problems, and was told when he bought it that Amana still makes the machine; Whirlpool only makes the visible exterior.

I have recommended Amana to family and friends so the only question was could I open the drawer?Yes!The floor model was tight; the one on my new fridge is easier to open even when fully loaded.The freezer has 2 upper drawers for easy access to the foods you use most frequently.They slide.

The big surprise was inside the refrigerator section.The left side has 6 special holders for soda or beer cans.This saves a lot of shelf space.The right door has a special place for 2 gallons of milk.Shelves are adjustable.There are 2 crisper drawers and a deli drawer.To use the deli drawer you have to open both doors. The lights are bright.The water filter is up front so it's easy to replace.It's large so it should last quite a while.The fridge will tell you when the filter needs to be replaced.There's an alarm to warn you the doors aren't closed. It went off as we were loading the fridge.It's loud enough to hear across the room but it doesn't blast you out of the house.

This model provides ice and water through the door.You can select water only, cubes only, or both together.The temperature control is also on the outside.There is a child lock to prevent children and large dogs from playing with the water dispenser.(Yes, dogs sometimes press their noses to it.We have a friend who has a curious Great Dane.)

This refrigerator is quiet!Amana is not known for quiet refrigerators, only good ones.Insulation is great.It hardly runs but maintains temperature perfectly.

What you will miss are an egg container and a large ice container.I miss the crushed ice my previous Amana had.And I believe a side-by-side freezer holds more than this drawer.Both my Amanas are 25 cubic feet total but I don't know the freezer measurements.

The exterior does not show fingerprints!

(More customer reviews)Very easy to use.Put water in the base, tea bags in the top of the pitcher, ice in the bottom of pitcher, press button, walk away.It's really that easy!I like sweet iced tea, so I don't put in the ice right away, I put the sugar in the bottom instead, when it's done brewwing I mix the tea, then add ice.This adds some time to making the tea, but it's still quick.I've seen some reviews complaining the tea isn't strong enough.I like it on the strongest setting (there are 3 brew strengh settings).But I've also wet a paper towel and put that over the filter (like a thicker filter), and the tea tasted great.I've tried the fruity teas, expensive teas, but love lipton tea bags.This is a perfect gift too - not expensive and easy to use.

(More customer reviews)I live in a one-bedroom unit in a massive apartment building with 6 laundry machines in the basement. I did not buy this unit from Amazon but rather from a Chinese electronics dealer in my area.Haier is very popular in China and the machine came highly recommended by the dealer.

The dealer delivered it to me, set it up and away we went.I have had this unit for about a month and here are my comments:

1)The unit is quieter than a traditional laundry machine.
2) I have had no problems with balancing the machine or with water intake.It fills quickly so long as there is high water pressure.The machine balances itself by stopping and starting until the clothes are balanced.
3) The high water level can accommodate a lot of clothes.I do about 3 loads a week: shirts/undies, pants, and towels.
4)It uses a lot less soap than traditional washers (about half I would say)
5)The regular wash runs for about 45 mins which I found excessive.The quickwash runs for about 22 minutes and I find that my clothes are perfectly clean.I only use the regular wash for very soiled items.
6) My unit came with casters so I had no problem.You may also buy casters at the hardware store... the casters are fairly standard.
7) Hooking it up to the sink did require a trip to the hardware store but it was easy to find the adapter as I brought the intake hose with me.

(More customer reviews)The main reason I wanted a cordless handheld was to clean carpeted stairs, but the suction isn't powerful enough to do a good job on this. It works `a little' if you spend a good minute or two on each step, but even the hose attachment tool on my regular upright vacuum cleaner does a MUCH better and faster job. That was a big disappointment for me.

There is no bag, so the dirt/dust collects inside and can be opened to empty out. There's also a filter that can be changed. The dirt collection area is rather small, so it seemed to fill up very quickly and the filter looked clogged after using it just a few times.

On the positive side, it is lightweight and very comfortable to hold. It's cordless so it's easy to use in places like a car or wherever you don't have access to an outlet. The charge seems to last a long time, so you don't have to keep recharging it after every use.

If you want a small, lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner for some light cleaning jobs such as picking up dust around your floor boards, vacuuming out your car or cleaning crumbs off the furniture, this would probably work fine, but are expecting to do stairs or larger cleaning tasks, you'd be better off finding another hand vac with stronger suction power and a larger dirt collection space.

(More customer reviews)This model is newer inside than the larger, non-counter depth model RS275ACRS. I returned that model to get this one and am very glad I did.

1. This model has interior LED lights when you open the refrigerator instead of the hotter old bulbs like the 275.

2. I am somewhat compulsive about temperature control. I have two precision thermometers, one in the fridge and one in the freezer compartment. On the RS275ACRS, the temperatures were nowhere near what the external display was reporting them as. On this model, however, the refrigerator is usually within 0.2 deg F of the reported temperature (at coldest setting of 34F, thermometer reports 34.1 whereas the 275 would be all over the place, never lower than 37 or so).In the freezer, this model is rock solid at -10 F when the external display is -14 F. I consider this excellent, as most freezers can't get this low. The 275 was lucky to get to -7 F with the display at -14 F. And yes, I allowed plenty of calibration time and took multiple readings over weeks. So, in my testing anyway, they have definitely upgraded the innards since the 275.

3. This model has the icemaker on the freezer door, not hogging the upper shelves of the freezer, which I love.

4. It is, obviously, slightly shallower than the RS275ACRS, but the markedly improved performance is well worth it to me.

5. Fridge very quiet.

6. External display slightly improved vs RS275ACRS.

Water Wise Distiller Model 8800 Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this distiller for a couple of years now and make 2-3 gallons of water PER DAY for my family.It is EXCELLENT.(Make sure and read my tip below if you do buy one).

To comment on the previous reviewer's statement that there's no point in distilling water and then keeping it in a plastic container -- the water doesn't stay in the container for any significant length of time to contaminate it.If there is a concern, the water can be easily poured into a glass jug and stored that way.With water this pure, I've found we drink more than ever and feel great about the health advantages and cost savings.The pitcher holds a gallon and that amount is easily used by most people within a day, given the amount we drink and cook with (i.e. water added in cooking to make oatmeal, rice, etc.).

The main reason we purchased this unit to begin with was that we moved into a home that has a water softener unit which automatically deposits salt and chemicals into the main water system.I watered houseplants with that water and within a week the plants died!!We simply didn't want to drink that water, but we like our water softener for other reasons (no hard water deposits) and didn't want to remove it.

The cost to produce the water in this distiller has not made any significant difference in our electricity bill, and we've found it to be cheaper and much more convenient than purchasing bottled water (who even knows what impurities bottled water contains!).

One TIP that I would recommend which allows the water to distill a lot faster:FILL THE KETTLE WITH THE HOTTEST POSSIBLE TAP WATER INSTEAD OF COLD WATER.It will cut down on the time it takes to make a gallon, as the unit won't have to work as long to bring the kettle to the boiling temperature required.This unit is easy to us -just fill the kettle with hot water and press a button.

I've found the Waterwise company to be very helpful with my questions, etc. over the phone.I would highly recommend this product.I can't imagine a glass of any other kind of water now!
