Megahome Glass Collection Bottle 1 Gallon Review

$45 for a glass container?Way too much, but nothing else will fit the distiller properly. You could buy a microwave oven for that much! Some assembly required and NO instructions; not too hard to figure out though.Looks nice, but a full gallon of water weighs about 8 pounds so don't try to lift the full container just by the handle.

Tribest Purewise Water Distiller Review

Tribest Purewise Water Distiller

You can tell ALOT about a company when they have a no return policy unless the product is defective.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until after my purchase.
The machine takes over 4.5 hours to produce less than one gallon of water.
The purpose of buying this distiller was to save money from buying bottled water from the store. Well, the machine runs for about 5 hours.
The electricity is going to cost more than the water was.
I have one gallon jugs here and the machine when finished, does NOT fill a one gallon jug, not even close.

Buy a distiller from a company who has a return policy...which lets you return it because you used it and were unhappy with it's performance.
I would say 90% of these distiller companies will only let you return it if you didn't use it. Then you charge you a restocking fee on top of your shipping charges to return it.

I vote NO on the product!

Product Description:
Do you know what's in your drinking water? Ordinary tap water often contains a number of contaminants that can undermine your health. The Tribest Purewise Water Distiller effectively removes up to 99.9% of impurities from normal tap water. It features a steam distillation and carbon filtration process that eliminates contaminants such as arsenic, aluminum, copper, bacteria, chloride, chlorine, chloroform, fluoride, lead, MTBE, mercury, nitrates, sodium, sulfate, THM, and viruses from your drinking water. Granted, you could buy distilled water at the supermarket, but that can get expensive and inconvenient. With the Tribest Purewise W10000 water distiller, you can save money and enjoy the health benefits of fresh, distilled water without ever leaving your home. The Tribest Purewise W10000 is a compact, stylish, countertop distiller with a removable boiling chamber allowing for easy filling and cleaning. Producing up to one gallon every 4.5 hours, this distiller is perfect for a single user or for a small family. It is also perfect for use in a camper, RV, or taken to a second home for distilled water enjoyment wherever you are. The Tribest Purewise Water Distiller works by heating ordinary tap water to 212 Degrees Fahrenheit, killing microbes such as bacteria, cysts, and viruses that may be present. Steam rises, leaving behind dead microbes, dissolved solids, salts, heavy metals and other substances. Gases with low boiling points are discharged through the gaseous vent. The steam is condensed in the stainless steel coil, and the purified water then percolates through the coconut shell carbon filter, further enhancing its quality by absorbing volatile organic compounds. The 100% steam distilled water is collected in a one-gallon polycarbonate dispenser bottle that comes with a convenient pouring spout.

Waterwise Kleenwise Descaler - Water Mineral Remover Review

Waterwise Kleenwise Descaler - Water Mineral Remover

Another equally effective and less expensive method is to use vinegar.

Mix about 6 ounces of the cheapest stores brand of vinegar with water and fill to the top line.Cover the distiller base unit with a large lid and allow to sit for about 12 hours. Then pour out the solution and use a scouring pad with a little water.Presto!

I have found that plugging in the distiller for 10 minutes to heat the vinegar solution with the lid on, then unplug and allow to sit seems to speed up the process.

Waterwise 9000 Countertop Distiller Review

Waterwise 9000 Countertop Distiller

I purchased this item after going through the reviews and articles of countless other water distiller sites. I had 3 different models in mind. One was only $99 (http://www.wholesalewaterdistillers.com/), this waterwise one at $200 (available through http://www.hacres.com/home.asp ) and one for $400.

The $99 is recommended if not willing to pay a high fee. The webaddress I gave may look a little cheezy, but you can call the owner up directly and speak to him about the products. In fact, he strongly does not recommend this Waterwise Product. He says many people have trouble with the timer and something to do with the plastic. Also Waterwise has sold this modle over to Kenmore (Sears brand) and it has the same probs. (Kenmore model can be purchased anywhere from $100-200)

The $400 model my family owns. It is complete stainless steel, not plastic anywhere and it has a lifetime warrenty. Unfourtuantly, I do not have the website at this time to list it here. It's the top of the line in home distillers and has a life time warrently (compared to waterwise 1 year)

Now my nightmare with waterwise. I ordered through the hacres.com place I listed above. It only cost $200 with shipping. I had wanted a water distiller for some time. We don't drink the tap water for the contaiments in it, and I'm tired of getting Reverse Osmose water from water machines and paying all that money. Well when it arrived, it was a little bigger than I expected. Do plan on having it in an area where all the fans can freely circulate. The first batch of water needs to be dumped, just to clean the product. My 2nd and 3rd batches tasted and smelled bad....and so did all of those after it. On the 3rd morning after having the product, it wouldn't work. I thought perhaps I was doing something wrong so I called waterwise and told them my problem (the carafat light was coming on, thereby not allowing me to start the distilling process). They looked up in the computer the message, put me on hold and said that they were shipping out a whole new machine to me.

Okay, that was bad news...I asked what was the matter. Wouldn't you know it, it was the same thing the gentleman on the phone told me about from the $99 water distiller place. The timer broke and it was irreplaceable. Being that my machine was under warrently, they were shipping out a whole new one to me and wanted me to send my broken one back to them.

Well when everything hit me sometime later, I relized that I didn't want a machine like that. I wanted to have my water distiller around for more than a year (esp at that price). So I decided to send everything back...which resulted in a big headache from both waterwise and hacers.com. Each company wanted back the broken distiller. After many phone calls, the situation was finally solved. I never want to go through such an experience again.

To sum things up, do not purchase this model.

Water Wise Distiller Model 8800 Review

Water Wise Distiller Model 8800
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this distiller for a couple of years now and make 2-3 gallons of water PER DAY for my family. It is EXCELLENT.(Make sure and read my tip below if you do buy one).

To comment on the previous reviewer's statement that there's no point in distilling water and then keeping it in a plastic container -- the water doesn't stay in the container for any significant length of time to contaminate it.If there is a concern, the water can be easily poured into a glass jug and stored that way. With water this pure, I've found we drink more than ever and feel great about the health advantages and cost savings. The pitcher holds a gallon and that amount is easily used by most people within a day, given the amount we drink and cook with (i.e. water added in cooking to make oatmeal, rice, etc.).

The main reason we purchased this unit to begin with was that we moved into a home that has a water softener unit which automatically deposits salt and chemicals into the main water system.I watered houseplants with that water and within a week the plants died!!We simply didn't want to drink that water, but we like our water softener for other reasons (no hard water deposits) and didn't want to remove it.

The cost to produce the water in this distiller has not made any significant difference in our electricity bill, and we've found it to be cheaper and much more convenient than purchasing bottled water (who even knows what impurities bottled water contains!).

One TIP that I would recommend which allows the water to distill a lot faster:FILL THE KETTLE WITH THE HOTTEST POSSIBLE TAP WATER INSTEAD OF COLD WATER.It will cut down on the time it takes to make a gallon, as the unit won't have to work as long to bring the kettle to the boiling temperature required. This unit is easy to us -just fill the kettle with hot water and press a button.

I've found the Waterwise company to be very helpful with my questions, etc. over the phone.I would highly recommend this product.I can't imagine a glass of any other kind of water now!

Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel Review

Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using this distiller for almost a year, and it makes the best water I've ever tasted. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I think there might be a way to make it more convenient; I think an older or frail person would have a tough time removing the upper cover (fan unit) after distilling (it's fairly heavy, and it makes a tight seal with the body of the distiller).

When I first started using this distiller, I thought there was a slightly acrid taste to the water, even with the carbon filter. Eventually I figured out what was wrong. I live in an area where the tap water has a very high mineral content. The body of the distiller is essentially an electric kettle that holds a gallon of water. It shuts off automatically when the water boils off. But the mineral gunk left over gets burned onto the bottom and the sides of the "kettle", and that's what was causing the slightly off taste. By setting a timer so that I remember to shut off the distiller before the last few ounces of water boil away, I've been able to improve the taste of the water, as well as make de-scaling the kettle a less frequent task. (Starting from cold tap water, it takes about 6 hours to distill a gallon of water, so I shut it off at about 5 1/2 hours.) Curiously, the little button on the front of the distiller body is only an "ON" button; to manually turn the distiller off, you have to pull the power plug.

Another slight drawback to this product is that the cooling fan is pretty loud. I run the distiller in a downstairs utility room, so it doesn't bother me at all, but you wouldn't want to be in the same room with it when it's running.
