(More customer reviews)I gave it three stars because of quality of build and design. There were no usable instructions although something called instructions was in the box. The quality of the materials is sub-par, all plastic. I feel like I have to be very easy when moving the vacuum around for fear of breaking it. The hose is very cheap and kinks at the neck easily. The attachment storage was not really designed at all. There are no good placements for attachments or the hose.

It does vacuum well and the noise level is not bad. Next time I will get a true commercial vac, not one that has a marketing label on it that says "industrial".

(More customer reviews)I bought this shop-vac before starting a big DIY drywall project, and it's been OK.It has quite a bit of suction, and it has a long hose and power cord, so you can usually drag it around without too much trouble.It's not too loud, and so far, it's done fine.The only thing I really don't like is that the intake has a kind of L-curve (apparently to stop objects from slamming into the filter) that tends to trap drywall crumbs and paper until the hose is blocked.Cleaning drywall dust out of the trap is easy enough, but no fun.

The main thing I still don't know, and wish I did, is whether the vacuum is particularly suited to drywall (i.e., some kind of dust-resistant motor), or whether it's just a normal shop-vac with a HEPA filter and the drywall tools.If so, you might want to consider getting a different Shop-Vac plus the cleanstream filter, drywall tool attachments, and some drywall dust bags.

Here's what you could get if you chose a different vacuum:

1) A blower.Most of the new, relatively quiet shop-vacs don't function as a blower, because instead of one big exhaust port that you could hook to a hose, they have a bunch of smaller ports to reduce noice (slightly).This vacuum sucks (which is good), but doesn't blow (which might not be good, if you want a blower).

2) A pump.You can use this shop-vac to suck up water into the bucket, but you will have to pour out the bucket every ten gallons, or set the shop-vac someplace where it can drain and use a long hose.Some of the others come with a pump, so you can drain a basement or a swimming pool by sucking the water into your shop-vac and letting it pump uphill.

3) More suction.More suction is always good.The drywall shop-vac does fine for piles of drywall dust and sawdust, but there is always a little bit left.I often wonder whether a little more power would do a little better.

4) Bigger or smaller bucket size.I have no problem with 10 gallons, but you might want something smaller and more manueverable, or bigger so that you have to empty it less often.

5) Household clean-up tools.This vac comes with the 2 1/2 inch wide toolset, which isn't that great for cleaning your house or car.You can buy the other hoses, but some of the other vacs might come with them.

I can't believe the suction going through 30 feet of hose would be so strong. Everythign was easy to get set up too, it took about 5 minutes. I sure won't miss dragging the canister around when it's time to do cars (which I do weekly). The attachements will fit just about every need too. All in all, this is one good product!

After a little research I selected this item and hoped for the best. My husband who runs a plumbing and heating company has said this product has saved the day more then once. It's great for cleaning up debris after a dirty job. His comments are that it has lots of power and suction, a good selection of attachments and it is very quiet. A great, reliable product at a good price. We recommend it.

(More customer reviews)With its relatively low capacity and 4 HP motor there is not much to recommend this machine at nearly 60 dollars. It also lacks a squeegee attachment which most vacs have standard.

To me it looks like it may be made by the same factory that make HD's Rigid line. Considering that those come with a lifetime warranty for the same price or less (I recently saw a 12 gal. 5 HP for 50 dollars) There does not seem to be a good reason to buy this.

Still, I bought it and it works as advertised.

(More customer reviews)I think there are two areas that are important in a shop vacuum; its operational performance, and the overall design of the storage, tools, and how it all fits together.While this model has good performance, the overall design is quite poor.I am very disappointed that I paid nearly $300 for something that is no better than the $150 models at Lowe's and Home Depot.I expected good storage design based on all the included hoses and options.

The good:Very powerful, with both a very high airflow rate and very high total suction.A multitude of filter options lets you pick up anything.The filter bag keeps fine dust from escaping (cement, soot, plasterboard, etc) while the standard cartridge works great for typical construction cleanup.The hoses are very flexible and attach securely.Some others have springy/stiff hoses that are hard to work with and some pull out of the connector easily.The container is solid, wheels are smooth, cord is nice and long.

The bad:The storage part of the design seems to have been created by rabid monkeys.The cord loop ears are tiny, and positioned behind all of the tool storage.This means you have to remove the tools from the bin to use the cord wrap, then the tools don't fit well into the storage bin.The bin is too small to fit even the included tools, making it rather useless.The hose hanger just can't be used with the tool storage bin in place, so you'd have to remove the bin just to store the hose.Also there is only one hose hanger, for the 2.5" hose, while this kit includes a 1.25" hose also.I guess it doesn't matter since the hanger is useless.

Overall this is just poor design with no real reason.They could have put the bin on the front, leaving the cord and hose hangers accessible, or some other design option.I would not buy this item at even 50% off if given the choice again.

Dust from diamond tools and drywall sanding is extremely fine, like talcum powder, and the tiniest particles (the dangerous ones) blow right through the filter of a typical shop vacuum. When traditional shop vacuums are fitted with baffles, or supplemental filters, for removing finer dust, they can clog up quickly. Airflow is restricted and the vac's ability to pull the dangerous dust out of the air is reduced.

I used it for vacuuming drywall/mud sanding.I actually had the machine outside of the room so that the exhaust won't disturb the drywall all over the place. I looked outside to see that the machine was coated with a light layer of drywall that I sucked up.The filter was on securely by the manufacturer. I also used the pre-filter bag to help the life of the filter. You can see the drywall dust came from the exhausting ports of the machine.The machine is made with durable plastic.The attachments could have gaskets or something to help seal and secure the vacuum.I'd say this is one of the most powerful vacuums I have used, but it is also 2x the amount. It's light weight and moves easily.I was just disappointed that the dustless claim was not real.Also, there isn't a secondary layer when removing the pre-filter bag from the machine, so you might be getting some dust or debris floating around when discarding.The attachments don't secure firmly to the tool holders. Sometimes the tools would fall off when moving the vacuum around.I'd give it 3.5 stars.
