Bodum 16-Ounce Travel Coffee Press and Tea Maker, Clear Review

Bodum 16-Ounce Travel Coffee Press and Tea Maker, Clear
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned this mug for a couple of years and used it primarily for camping. Dan from Rochester got it right with his commentary, so I'll add just a few points.

The concept is ideal for camping and reduces the effort to make really good coffee. However, the bad points regarding the plunger not going down far enough; leaking lid; etc. are all right on.Also, the cup is double-wall plastic for insulation. The inside sleeve on mine cracked when I poured boiling hot water in it!

I would certainly purchase a similar item again, though not this one. Bodum just needs to increase the quality.I would pay twice the price for higher quality.

Overall...not recommended.

Bodum Shin Bistro Insulated 34-Ounce Double-Wall Glass Coffee Press Review

Bodum Shin Bistro Insulated 34-Ounce Double-Wall Glass Coffee Press
Average Reviews:

I was searching for a drip coffee maker and just couldn't decide.I wanted a thermal pot...and then I remembered about a decade ago that I bought a Bodum coffee press and had THE BEST COFFEE I have ever tasted.I bought this and Bodum's Antigua burr coffee grinder and now enjoy consistently excellent coffee. This press makes two large mugs of coffee and keeps the coffee hot for a reasonable amount of time.

To get the most out of this press, I recommend buying whole bean coffee and grinding it as close to brewing time as possible.I put in 4 "Bodum" measures of coffee (they give you a measuring spoon) and fill with water just off the boil.

The coffee made with a press is strong, yet never bitter. It has depth and character that still amazes me.No more drip brew for me!

Product Description:
Bodum, the original manufacturer of the coffee press, is always searching for the best way to serve a cup of gourmet coffee. The French press method of brewing is already accepted worldwide as the best way to brew coffee. We asked our design team to come up with the next best thing in French press brewing. One of the comments our consumers had about French press coffee was that the quality was great but there was no way to keep it warm while they enjoyed their weekend morning tradition of relaxing with coffee while reading the paper or watching the sun rise.Enter the new Shin Bistro Double Wall Glass coffee maker! The Shin Bistro Insulated Coffee Press keeps excellently brewed coffee hot and aromatic for nearly two hours.A highly sophisticated production process using double wall glass technology leads to a stunning thermal effect.. The inner beaker is machine-blown whereas the outer beaker is mouth-blown, perfecting the balance between insulation and product stability. The Shin Bistro features a black stay-cool, non-slip rubber handle. The body is made of high-tech, ultra-light heat-resistant borosilicate glass. The operation of the press is exactly the same as our original single wall versions. It is so simple to use.To clean, simply use a rubber spatula to scoop out the grounds into your garbage or compost and rinse the press well. You are now ready for your next brewing. If you prefer, you can also put the rinsed press into the dishwasher for a more thorough cleaning.Replacement glass beakers are available.Note: Coffee is measured in 4 oz. cups so an 8-Cup press brews 8--4 oz. cups. If you look at is from the standpoint of a traditional 10-12 oz. coffee mug, this coffeemaker will brew 3-4 servings

Bodum Columbia Thermal 51-Ounce Stainless-Steel Coffee Press Review

Bodum Columbia Thermal 51-Ounce Stainless-Steel Coffee Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have tried several types of brewing methods (drip & vacuum), but this coffee press is my absolute favorite. I am able to make hot and robust coffee. Since you control the brew time, water temperature, coarseness of the grounds, & amount of water, you can make your coffee to suit your tastes.
It took me a few pots to tinker with the variables mentioned above, but it was well worth it. It is a little more trouble than a drip machine, but I got much smoother yet richer coffee with this method.
The pot is sleek and easy to clean. It does a decent job of keeping coffee hot, although a lot of heat seems to escape through the top once you press the coffee grounds down. Also, it makes 12 FOUR ounce cups. Most drip machines are measured in SIX ounce cups, so choose your pot size with care. Occassionally a tiny amount of grounds get through the filter (common with this brew method), but for the most part I have been happy with the filter.
I would definitely purchase this product again!

Bodum New Kenya 34-Ounce Coffee Press, Black Review

Bodum New Kenya 34-Ounce Coffee Press, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this coffee press in both the 4 cup and the 8 cup models. Both, like the other Bodum coffee presses, make a great cup of coffee, so if you have never tried coffee made this way, I would recommend getting one of the New Kenya models while Amazon has them at a reduced price. However, I would like to caution you about one thing.

One day after receiving the 4 cup press, I broke the glass carafe! Because these units have outsides that are made entirely of plastic (unlike other Bodum models which have holders and/or handles made of stainless steel), the fit around the glass beaker is very tight. The carafe and the plastic holder do need occasional separating while washing, because sometimes during the rinse process, coffee grounds become lodged between the two. I wash mine by hand.

If you are going to separate the two, please do not do so while you are washing them with the dish soap! I had to pull rather hard to get the glass from inside the plastic, with soapy hands, and, well, you can imagine what happened. They did separate, but the glass beaker went flying into the bottom of my sink and then totally shattered...

At the cost of the replacement carafe with the shipping charges, it was just cheaper for me to order a new one! I did do that, but purchased the Bodum Chambord model instead (which does cost more), with the metal holder, and the glass and holder separate very easily for cleaning (much easier than the plastic holder)! Which, by the way, now always occurs before the dish soap is applied!!!

The 8 cup version of the New Kenya press works just fine and the glass is intact, as I separate the components of that model sans dish soap, also. I thought I would share my experience so that perhaps there might be one less person out there saying to themselves, "What was I thinking!?".

The French press coffee maker is accepted worldwide as one of the best methods for brewing coffee and our New Kenya coffee press is sure to deliver not only gourmet coffee flavor, but modern design. The durable and heat-resistant glass beaker is partially encased by the black plastic frame of the New Kenya coffee maker. The frame covers a part of the sides and bottom of the beaker, making it safe for the tabletop without using a trivet or coaster.Simple to use, the French press is a proven method for brewing flavorful and balance coffee.Coffee is measured in 4 oz. cups, so our 8-cup press will brew 34 oz., serving three to four people. For best results, use coarse ground coffee.Just add the appropriate amount of ground coffee to the beaker (we recommend one 7 gram scoop per 4 oz. of water).Fill the beaker with hot water (just off of a boil).Leave about an inch from the top of the beaker.Give the coffee a stir with a plastic or wooden utensil to mix it completely with the water.Set the plunger and lid unit in place with the safety lid in the closed position.Allow the coffee to brew for 4-minutes and then press.Turn the safety lid to the open position, serve and enjoy.Clean up is easy too - just scoop out the grounds with a rubber spatula, and rinse the beaker and filter. There is no paper or additional filter required. The 3-part stainless steel filter system is built right into the press. The stay cool handle is built right into the sturdy New Kenya frame. All parts are dishwasher safe. The New Kenya is also available in 3, 4, and 6 cup sizes.

UNBREAKABLE FRENCH PRESS Review

UNBREAKABLE FRENCH PRESS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this little French Press for Christmas (cost was the full $25) and used it every day for five months, until the plastic screen holder on the bottom of the plunger pretty much disintigrated.I've used french presses for years and am in the habit of disassembling the plunger/filter mechanism for periodic cleaning. This is fine for metal screen holders, but this plastic one cracked and soon broke into small pieces.

I'm going back to Bodum.Their glass carafes can break (and be replaced), but I never really liked the plastic carafe on the BonJour Hugo -- it quickly began showing minute scratches, giving the impression that it wasn't completely clean.(I'm not a clean freak, but good coffee calls for clean brewing equipment.)

If it weren't for the broken holder and the plastic carafe, I would have given this french press five stars.

I've had one of these press pots and have used it for about 5 years. The description says it keeps coffee warm for hours. This is not quite right. It will keep it drinkable for an hour (the press pot is not double hulledlike nissan thermouses). I transfer mine directly after pressing into anissan thermous. My press pot has been used daily and it is as good as new.I don't under stand why people buy the glass one press pots. This nissanwill last forever! The mesh screen does get worn, but mine is not so badI'd replace it.

Bodum Bistro Mug Press Personal Coffee and Tea Maker Review

Bodum Bistro Mug Press Personal Coffee and Tea Maker
Average Reviews:

My husband likes radioactive coffee and usually drinks 2-3 cups. I on the other hand like the standard 2-4 minute seep. The Bodum Bistro Mug Press is perfect for me. I love that I seep right in my cup, press then enjoy.

FYI; 2 star reviewer seams to have forgotten that all french presses ask that you stir the grounds prior to seeping. This "swirly" business does not properly agitate the grounds. Also all presses require you to lift and pour. With the Bodum Bistro Mug Press you DO need to lift the press out of your mug and pour the remaining coffee out of the press.

Bodum Brazil 3-Cup Glass Coffee Press, Black Review

Bodum Brazil 3-Cup Glass Coffee Press, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, make sure you notice in the writing above that while this is called a 3 cup press, it does not make 3 US cups.It makes 1.5 US cups. This is a sip or two more than will fit in most of my mugs and hence is exactly the amount of coffee I want since my husband can't stand coffee. If you were wanting this to make a mug each for two people though, you won't be happy with this little guy and need to look at the bigger models.

Other than that, this is pretty straight foward device. It's very easy to use and a snap to clean. And the coffee it produces is excellent; after using it for two years, I now have problems when company comes over and I want to use my big autodrip coffee maker because so much of the richness of my beans get lost with the drip method.

The only thing that keeps me from rating this product a full five stars is that I have problems with the filters after about eight months to a year. The press currently in my kitchen is actually the second one I have had because the last one became unusable when the filter simply stopped being willing to stay in place. Now I am having this problem with the replacement. It is possible that my problem is due to the fact that the filters get warped and could be solved by simply buying new filters, but since the filters are $4 plus shipping and a complete replacement costs $11, it makes as much sense to me simply to replace the whole unit and have a backup in case I drop it and shatter the glass (which has happened in the last year!).But, really, I shouldn't complain too much about this because $11 a year is a small price to pay to make perfect coffee.

Bodum Chambord Coffee Press Review

Bodum Chambord Coffee Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, to some the idea of using a French press coffee maker is a little too precious, bordering on snobbishness. I used to be in that boatuntil a few hours ago.Tonight on a whim, I purchased this Bodum French press. Now I should warn you readers that it is generally NOT a good idea to test out your shiny new french press when you are getting home at 10:30pm on a Monday after spending way too much money at Target when you just ran in to get "dog food".I write this review so heavily caffienated that I will probably stay up until dawn tonight re-organizing my closets or alphabetizing my CD collection or doing some other useless task.Despite being a dailycoffee drinker (of the muddy variety the office's Bunn machine churns out), one cup from the french press has knocked me into the stratosphere, and that alone is worth giving this product 5 stars.

My caffiene overdose aside, this press produces the best coffee I have ever had at home, and it truly rivals or surpasses coffee I've had at coffee houses. It's slightly more involved than using an automatic maker, but not difficult at all. The unit itself is pretty sturdy, and looks lovely.

French press coffee is a great alternative to using those smaller 1-2 cup automatic drip makers.Being single, I've gone through my share of those, and the coffee they make alway seems about ten times worse than the coffee from a normal-sized drip maker. If you like to make a large pot of coffee and drink it throughout the morning, I would suggest picking up a good quality carafe or thermos to keep the coffee warm.

Pros:

-Best tasting coffee you'll ever have at home, period.
-Strong, full bodied flavor
-Pretty easy to prepare
-Impress your friends with your snobby european coffee-making ways:)(looks good on your counter too)
-Great for making small amounts of coffee, for one or two people.
-Priced about the same as a ho-hum auto drip coffee maker with noextra bells and whistles, yet makes coffee a million times better.
Cons:

-More cleanup than using a automatic drip maker
-No heating element to keep coffee warm.Use a thermos/carafe if you want to sip several cups over a few hours.
- 8-cup capacity is based on a 4oz beverage size. Not really a "con" but something you should be aware of.If you had a large group you were making coffee for, it might get a little tedious to be constantly making a fresh batch of coffee.

Couple other notes:Coarsely ground coffee is recommended. This is no problem for people that already buy whole bean and grind their own, but it will be an extra step for some people. Also, I recommend picking up an Aerolatte milk frother if you want to make truly effortless cappuchino.I find that there's plenty of time to warm some milk in the microwave and froth it up while the coffee brews for 4 mintues. A $20 Aerolatte milk frother + $24 french press = coffeehouse coffee at home, whenever you want it.That's really a tiny investment for coffeehouse quality java!

I also purchased a smaller 1-cup Bodum press to take to work.Tomorrow I plan to smile smugly while my co-workers chug down the crap that comes out of the Bunn machine. If my boss is really nice, I may let him use it too.Maybe.

Bodum 1548-01US Brazil 8-Cup (34-Ounce) Coffee Press Review

Bodum 1548-01US Brazil 8-Cup Coffee Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's face it, dumping coffee grounds into a bucket of hot water is nothing new.The Bodum Press is a refinement of the cowboy coffee brewing method, minus the campfire & straining it thru a sock.In My world, there is no such thing as "too Strong" for coffee. There IS, however, too bitter & too acidy. The press does what perking, dripping and steaming ground coffee cannot do: produce a stout, yet smooth cup of coffee - just like the stuff made around decades of my campfires.

Model Brazil, made in Denmark by a Swiss Company & called a French Press. No wonder the confusion over exactly how many cups this actually makes. The Euro-instructions for the press say 4 oz. per cup, but even my fine Bavarian China cups (from when I lived in Munich) are 6 ounces.

Just look at it this way: It holds 32 ounces of water.

The instructions on your roast coffee container usually say to use 1 TBSP per 6 ounces of water (NOT 4 ounces & NOT 8 ounces).Again, in MY world, 32 ozs. makes about 2 cups of coffee.

I toss in 6 or more scoops of ground coffee, pour in hot water & wait the obligatory 4 minutes. The result is a smooth coffee that you can drink by the quart without that nasty heartburn/reflux side effect.

It's ideal for work, where the office sissies are afraid of offending anyone with REAL coffee, so they make it weak.I simply step up to the hot water spigot & take the Press to my desk.

Now, you, too, can have coffee the way you like it at work without havingto cover up someone's botched brew with that foo-foo Vanilla, Hazelnut, Irish Cream or other phoney-flavored faux creamers.

Cleanup?Swirl around some soapy water, & dump the grounds down the sink - just be sure to have the water blasting & the garbage disposal running, so as to not plug up the sink trap.

Even if you already have the coffee-brewing apparatus of your dreams, buy the Bodum 32 oz. model. You won't be disappointed.

AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with Bonus 350 Micro Filters Review

AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with Bonus 350 Micro Filters

This product solves all the problems I have with a French Press.

French presses are recommended for full extraction without paper filtration. But I find that once the coffee steeps it's not as hot as I like it. Cleaning a french press leaves grounds all over the sink.

The Aeropress offers full extraction and makes delicious hot coffee. You clean it by shooting the puck of grounds right into the trash. You can also throw it in the suitcase for travel. The paper filter is very thin and doesn't interfere with the flavor.

I find it best for making 1-2 cups.Five stars for coffee taste, convenience, durability, and cleanup.

Product Description:
The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew.Comes With 700 Filters
