Eva-dry Electric Petite Dehumidifier Review

I live in a coastal region that receives high levels of moisture and humidity on a daily basis. To top it off, my house has bathrooms which have no ventilation, so we've often had to deal with mold problems. The answer to my problems arrived in the form of a small box-shaped dehumidifier called "Eva Dry".

This device works tremendously well, pulling moisture out of the air at a reasonable rate. The 16oz reservoir takes about one week to fill up, when I leave it running constantly.I use it in my bathroom mainly, but once in a while my bedroom will feel damp, and it handles the 12'x14' space just as effectively as it does the bathroom. My only complaint is that it's not nearly as quiet as I thought it would be, and the power cord is kind of bulky for bathroom use; I have to tuck it all away someplace, and my only outlets are on the counter, so that's a bit aggravating. The product loses one star for that.

I recommend this to anyone who has ventilation problems and needs to be rid of excess moisture in small to medium sized spaces.

Honeywell HWM-500 UV Warm Moisture Humidifier Review

***Approximate measurement***
Entire unit: 14x11x7 (inches)
Tank:14x7x7(inches)***10/31/2007***

This is my first humidifier, but I am extremely satisfied with it.
The instruction is very clear and easy to follow.
It is easy to put together, simply attach the tank to the bottom.
All suggest to me that this is a very efficient machine for a warm mist humidifier(well, at least to me):

1.Within 30 minutes of use, it works and I can feel the difference.
2.No leaking.
3.No noise (slight bubbling sound is actually soothing to me, not noisy.)
4.Sturdy construction.
5.Humidity adjustable (many options, not just 2).
6.Large tank and easy to refill.
7.Low maintenance. (No filter required if you have regular tap/city water.)
8.Easy to clean. (With ultraviolet lights, cleaning isn't required on a weekly basis.)
9.For cats owners: My cats don't get scared of or hurt by it.

I don't think I could ask for more.

***Well...11/5/2007***

It's still great, although I did notice some issues:

1.A bit too much work and too heavy when refill:
For men, this might NOT be an issue, but for women like me, it might be.
To refill, the tank needs to be turned upside down because the tank cap is at the bottom of it.When I am to flip a full tank of water over and put it back onto the base, I do worry. It's quite heavy, and it gets a bit tiring since I do need to refill it every day. There is no easy access!

2.Frequency of refill:
Quote: "It requires no messy filters to replace and runs up to 24 hours each filling."I do need to refill it every 12 hours every day when I:
(1)have it on the highest humidity level
(2)have it on most of the time (12 hours)

So I do refill it every day I get up and every night before I go to bed.I assume it would last up to 24 hours like it says only if the humidity level is set at the lowest, which probably wouldn't cause an obvious difference to the room's humidity.

In all, it's still a good buy. It does help! I notice that I don't wake up with the driest skin in the morning anymore.

**A little tip**
A teaspoon of salt helps it evaporate more moisture, although it makes the water run out faster.

**I attached a picture of mine with my Treo next to it. The ratio should give a brief idea of how big the machine is.

Eva-dry EDV-E-500 Renewable Wireless Mini Dehumidifer Review

I was surprisingly pleased with the Eva Dry mini dehumidifier.I hang mine just out outside our guinea pig's cage and it absorbs excess moisture quite effectively, keeping their food and cage area from getting too humid. It takes several weeks to fully absorb moisture but the indicator will go from blue to bright pink, and the unit will be noticeably heavier.Just plug the unit into the socket overnight to refresh.

Product Description:
This high capacity renewable dehumidifier has been designed to adsorb moisture from small, enclosed areas. It will help protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold/mildew and moisture rot. It is 100% renewable and needs no power to operate. Just hang the Eva-dry unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small, enclosed spaces, and it will start to adsorb moisture. There are no batteries required or cords to plug in, the unit works without power. There is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "renewed". The unit will adsorb approximately 8-10 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take between 6 - 8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill. This unit uses a specialized, engineered, crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. When the indicator crystals turn pink it is time to "re-new" the unit. Simply remove the unit from where it is adsorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet or power strip in a well ventilated area (bathroom with extraction fan, garage, outside, etc.). There is a built-in heater that will warm the crystals allowing them to expand and release the moisture as water vapor into the outside air. It takes about 12-14 hours to completely re-new the unit. When it is completely renewed the indicator crystals will change back to blue. The unit is brand new again and ready to adsorb another 8-10 ounces of moisture. The crystals will remain active for 10 years and we offer a 5 year limited manufactures warranty on all EDV500 units.
