Noodles' review is just about exactly what I was going to write. Our old ProAroma was a better machine. It's hard to believe anyone at Krups would think it was an improvement to lock out all controls except "off" when the machine is on program mode. You want to change the program? Set the program "off" time longer? You have to turn it off to do that. Then, when you turn it back on to keep the coffee warm, it thinks you want to brew a new pot, and starts an "empty reservoir" alarm. The automatic start program doesn't cancel after it runs, it stays on. Uhhh... Krups? It's obvious that I would have to actively tend to the machine - like add a filter? Coffee? Water? before it makes coffee again. Wouldn't it make sense to assume that I would be capable of setting the program again at that time? Krups thinks you should be forced to remember to turn the program off (not possible when it's still warming the carafe!) if you don't want to use it.If you forget LATER, after the program time has run it's course, it starts the "empty reservoir" alarm nice and early Saturday morning. Our ProAroma was completely programmable any time - and it had more features. This machine is definitely a step down. Oh, wait - I forgot - the carafe has a lid that won't come off, won't open far enough to stay open by itself, and stained brown in a month. How am I supposed to fit this in the dishwasher - with the lid closed? I guess so. I wish the old carafe with the snap-on, snap-off lid would fit this thing. OK, so I got it for $60, much cheaper than the last few (non e-bay) ProAromas would have cost me. But I feel bad that I didn't just spend $20 on Mr. Coffee. I think this machine was not only built in China, it was designed there by someone who had never laid hands on a ProAroma. Coffee is fine, but so is it when I boil water in a kettle and pour it over the grounds in a Melitta filter...this is just handier. The machine feels sturdy, not cheap. My gripe is in the programming. Oh, yeah, I forgot - they moved the electronics back under the heating element, where coffee and water get spilled on it. Not up high like the ProAroma's.

Krups XP7225 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso Machine Review

We bought this machine from Williams-Sonoma and liked it so much that we stuck with the coffee through four separate units, each of which failed within three weeks for a different reason. My wife and I each drink 2-3 shots of espresso per day, for a total of 6-8 cycles of the machine (including self rinsing): this is within their warranty rate of 10 cycles per day.We use non-greasy beans and reverse-osmosis water, both of which are recommended by the manufacturer. At first I thought we just got unlucky -- every factory makes a few lemons -- but after four machines and four independent failure modes I'm convinced they're just poorly built.

For coffee : 4-5 stars. When they work, these machines are just adjustable enough for us - you can adjust the grind, the water temperature, and the water volume independently to "sight in" your ideal shot. For reliability: -4 stars.I would give this product just a single star, but the titanium fronted one comes with a terrific milk-frothing assembly that makes great, silky foam every time. That alone is worth a second star.

Machine #1: worked for three weeks, then mysteriously failed with an error code "DE" on the screen.Krups support was baffled.

Machine #2: worked for 1.5 weeks, then the burr grinder broke - motor would turn but wouldn't grind coffee.

Machine #3: DOA - on initial plug-in, entered an infinite loop of "calibrating machine" cycles.(I think an internal sensor was jammed).

Machine #4: worked for 3 weeks, then mysteriously started spewing acrid, electrical-insulator smoke.

I suggest a Delonghi Magnifica - they can be found for under $1k and are actually designed to be maintainable - or a semi-auto with built-in burr grinder (Breville makes one).

Brew cafe-quality coffee drinks right at home with this easy-to-use fully automatic espresso machine. Simply add water and espresso beans, select the type of beverage and amount desired, and press the button--it takes care of the rest. The appliance grinds, brews, and tamps, then dispenses used grounds into a collection container. An oversized digital display and intuitive controls make it effortless to scroll through the on-screen menu and to follow detailed instructions for everything from set-up to brewing perfect espresso. In addition, the unit's commercial-quality built-in conical burr grinder holds up to 28 ounces of whole beans and comes calibrated to three optimal grind levels. Use the pre-ground bypass doser for pre-ground decaffeinated or flavored coffee--a handy feature when entertaining.
For added convenience, the espresso machine's innovative design combines the thermoblock brewing system and hydraulic jack into a single piece, which means an overall smaller build that takes up less space on the countertop. In fact, it's 30- to 50-percent smaller than most fully automatics available. The completely redesigned thermoblock comes cast in aluminum with stainless-steel tubing for precise control of the water and temperature and optimal heat transfer while reducing scaling and build-up of mineral deposits. Other highlights include a 64-ounce water tank, hot water on demand, and a steam function for cappuccinos and lattes. The 1450-watt espresso machine measures 12-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 14-1/4 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Krups XP4030 Pump Espresso Machine, Black Review

Krups XP4030 Pump Espresso Machine, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After making cappuccino on steam type espresso makers daily for the past 12 years, I thought it was time to upgrade to a pump model. I researched pump types and decided on this model. Wow! What a difference! The espresso first comes out as a creamy light brown froth which then clarifies into a rich darker brown color within a minute. What a difference in taste! We use pure Kona and the taste is softer and smoother than we're used to. In the week I've used it, I haven't yet mastered the froth on this unit, but it's getting better and is probably a learning curve on my behalf.

Some pointers and caveats need to be mentioned up front for optimum performance and eyes wide open purchase:

1) This model is heavier & noisier than steam models
2) No decanter is included. I use a Pyrex measuring cup if making two servings. About 1/3 cup per espresso serving.
3) You must manually turn off the espresso control after the desired quantity is made, hence the measurement of 1/3 cup per serving
4) The water tank is removable--a nice touch. If it is not reseated properly, you will hear a very loud continuous noise as the unit tries to suck out water it cannot obtain. This is just a learner's tip.
5) While the water reservoir is massive, you can only make one or two servings at a time, unless the espresso is diluted. Making more is only a matter of placing the unit in standby, removing the grounds, refilling with fresh grounds and continuing the process again.
6) Always wait for the thump thump noises of the pump to stop before proceeding to the next step. This is usually a matter of several seconds, just don't be impatient!
7) Whenever crafting the froth, you must wait for the orange light to go out before proceeding. This is like waiting for the oven to reach appropriate temperature.
8) Alternatively, you cannot go straight from froth to espresso without first placing the unit in standby for a cooldown cycle. The pump will cycle for about 10 seconds. When it stops, you can proceed. This is only a cool down period.
9) For making espresso only, this unit is FAST!!
10) I am well over the age of 13!

With the above in mind, I hope you take the plunge. The price is right and the difference in taste is remarkable. If you're thinking of upgrading your steam espresso maker, go for it! The Holidaze are just around the corner!

UPDATE - After previously giving this machine 4 stars, I am forced to reduce my rating to 1 star.It appears I've received a "lemon" as I've now had the machine break 3 times.I'm very frustrated because for all of the resasons I list below, I want to love the machine. However, during time I've had the machine, It's only briefly worked before needing to be retured for service. The machine comes with a one-year VIP service which is great since the online company I purchased it from only had a 30-day return policy.Unfortunately, in the four months I've had the machine it's been broken or out for repair for a majority of that time. Please respond to this review if you've had success getting your machine to work without sending back for repair.

Attention Buyers! - I would not buy this machine - the frustration of having it break three times is not worth your time or money. Learn from my mistake and look for a different brand and make sure to purchase from a store that has a return period of longer than 30 days.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was no small purchase for me.I've researched and waited for about 1 year before committing to this machine. The price dropped by about 40% from one of the Amazon online retailers and there was free shipping so I jumped at the chance.I've had the XP 7260 for about 1 week now and I mostly love this machine. When I first got the machine I spent an hour or so reviewing the instruction manual before I turned on the machine which helped me to realize a couple important tips (for most all auto-espresso machines).1 - you have to use very cold l% or 2% milk for best froth/foam and 2 - you should use non-oily beans. Also, I expected to get coffee shop quality from the first cup of expresso but have quickly realized that I haven't learned the proportions of espresso to water (for Americano) or milk (for latte & cappucino).I wish more than two recipes were included for first time users.

Pros:
Stunning appearance
Auto frothing attachment works excellent(if you use cold 1% or 2% milk)
Great tasting coffee/espresso
Doesn't take up too much room on the counter

Cons:
The biggest CON is that there is NO pre-ground coffee funnel - I big disappointment - no decaf drinks at night.
The Amazon description mentions that this machine is compatible with ground coffee but it's NOT!
Noisy!Similar to turning on a blener full of ice.The noise is short-lived so it's bearable.
Not enough recipes for basic coffee drinks - I have yet to perfect the Americano. Web blogs are all over the place regarding recipes.
Frequently filling the water container - not a big deal but if you have cabinets above your counter you have the pull the machine out far enough to access the water container.
Espresso cups, manual frothing pitcher, and coffee not included (auto pitcher is included). Plan to spend another $50 on these items before making your first cup of espresso.
Maintenance costs could be about $100 per year for water filter replacements and cleaning tablets.
Water filter and cleaning tablets are not easily available so I will have to purchase online.

I know, this sounds like a long list.I have a feeling many other espresso machines have similar cons so I wouldn't consider any of these a deal-breaker.

Overall an excellent machine but I really wish there was a pre-ground coffee funnel so that we could enjoy decaf expresso drinks at night.

Krups XP 4000 Espresso Machine, Black Review

Krups XP 4000 Espresso Machine, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, I don't usually review products...cause some people who do are either way too passionate about their foam, or their kitchen or their whatever....and I don't care to be lumped into the whole lot.

Anyway, I just got the machine. I'm a darn tough person to please, and I'm fairly pleased. No hassles really. Made good n' hot lattes etc. no problem frothing milk etc. My only hangup is that there is no little lever or something to hold down the filter when cleaning the coffee out of it. I used to hold my old one down with my thumb and hit it against something to jar out the used coffee grounds.

The unit is really heavy, which tells me there is something inside...not just a $100 piece of plastic. Compared to my old Krups pump model, it is much more solid, heats everything more quickly and is easier to use than expected.

Let's face it. Anyone taking time to go through the hassle to actually make cappucinos at home is too spoiled for their own good anyway. I'm just thankful to be able to whip up a fantastic espresso or latte or whatever with this machine.

Now someone who really, really knows everything there is to know about crema and the oxygen content of "perfect" foam and whatnot...can write a review more helpful than mine. Enjoy.

Krups XP2070 Programmable 10-Cup Coffeemaker/15-Bar Pump Espresso Machine Review

Krups XP2070 Programmable 10-Cup Coffeemaker/15-Bar Pump Espresso Machine
Average Reviews:

I was and still am deeply suspicious of these combo units, but this one has been a pleasant surprise. All of the basic functions work admirably and it does a wonderful job of frothing even low fat milk. The espresso maker is a little less forgiving of your tamping skills than other machines I've used, but when you get it right the crema is beautiful.
I have only had this for 3 months, so I can't vouch for longevity of the machine, but it seems to be sturdy and well made.

The problem I have is with the computer program that operates everything. It is perhaps the most non-intuitive, least user-friendly design I have ever come across on any home appliance. The functions themselves should be fairly straightforward -- push a button -- but require you to learn the secret code of whomever designed it.
Add to that the fact that the instructions are WRONG.I can handle them being written by a non-English speaker, I'm used to that. But they can at least be accurate.Helpful tip - when frothing milk, after the steam has built up and the flashing light begins to glow continuously, DO NOT push the "steam" button again as the instructions indicate.Push the "Valid" button instead.

However, once you get the secret code down, this machine works well.Compared to other combo units I highly recommend.

DeLonghi DCF212T Drip Coffeemaker with Convenient Front Access Review

DeLonghi DCF212T Drip Coffeemaker with Convenient Front Access
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my $100 coffee maker quit, I researched coffee makers and found this model from DeLonghi I hadn't heard of before. The design of this model sets a new standard for on-the-counter coffee makers. It is incredible to be able to put the filter, coffee, AND WATER in the maker without moving the machine. The caraffe doesn't drip when pouring into the swing out arm (or into the cup later) so there's no messy drips to wipe up at any time.
The digital clock isn't the quickest to set since you have to hold a button in as it changes in minutes only, but hopefully that won't need set often.
The "aroma" button really works! There actually is a difference in the brewing aroma with it on.
Most importantly, the end product was a great cup of coffee! I'm thrilled with the coffee maker and haven't found a single negative aspect yet, including the price. I HIGHLY recommend this model.Kudos Delonghi, you really outdid yourself here. Amazon's shipping was simple and fast. The whole purchasing experience was exceptional.A+++++

Krups Precision 12 Cup Coffee Maker Review

Krups Precision 12 Cup Coffee Maker

I believe that Krupps Coffeemakers make the best coffee.Mine was over ten year old and needed replacement.I didn't like the all metal look of the Coffeemakers on Amazon and was glad when they came out with this black one.It truly makes good coffee and it looks nice too.My main complaint is the water fill tank in the back is small and hard to hit the right spot without spilling (see photo). This is why I didn't give it five stars. The level indicator is also rather hard to see, and I have to guess as to how full it is.It seems like all Krupps Carafe's dribble a bit, but I am used to that by now.I still really like it, even with it's faults.

KRUPS KM8105, 12-Cup Die-Cast Programmable Coffeemaker Review

KRUPS KM8105, 12-Cup Die-Cast Programmable Coffeemaker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Had I read these reviews before buying this coffee maker, I would have stayed away ..... far away. But it looked good in the store, so I went for it. The dripping carafe is the biggest problem. It's really bad. So I called Customer Support (1-800-526-5377) and I must say they were accommodating (must be getting a lot ofcalls on this one, or they're simply blowing me off!). They took my name and address and said they would ship a redesigned replacement carafe when they become available at the end of December (apparently the carafe's are in the process of being manufactured). I'll wait and see. I like the look and feel of the machine and the coffee is fine, it just makes a mess when you pour.

They did ask if I had the receipt and if I had the machine in front of me (yes on the receipt, no on the machine as I'm at work). However, they did not ask that I fax anything, unlike other reports I've read. So for now, I'll pour over the sink and hope they keep their word.

My one concern is in regards to a company that would actually manufacture and market a product that is obviously poorly designed to the point of being defective. Makes you wonder about the quality control for the rest of the unit. But if you own one of these, and can't or don't want to return it, call Customer Support, ask for a new and improved carafe, and keep your fingers crossed.

Update Dec 18, 2009:
True to their word, my new carafe arrived yesterday. Basically, they widened the spout and removed the baffle. Works perfectly. I'm pleased with the quick response, as I really want to like this machine. No other complaints, although the 2 stage timer advertised on the box would have been a nice addition, especially at this price. So I'm revising my rating from 1 star to 4. If you own one with the old style carafe, call customer service at the number above. The concern someone else mentioned about the removable tank eventually leaking is a possibility, I guess. Time will tell. In the meantime, I'm OK with it.

Krups FME2-14 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, Black Review

Krups FME2-14 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was a little concerned about opening up shop away from home, 3 states away, and having to leave my tried and true Krups Pro Aroma behind. Granted, its an 8 year old model, but it made a great cup of coffee, and I had mastered the fairly simple interface for programming and setup.

In my search, I read a LOT of negative reviews about the new Krups product family. Really not a surprise cause even the Pro Aroma had its many quirks, but still.....the coffee. So, after reading a bunch of bad reviews on Braun, Mr Coffee, Cuisinart, and Krups coffeemakers, I figured $60 was worth the risk to plunk down on this model. My first impression when I opened the box was that the coffemaker was solid and well constructed, but that the carafe was too light and thinly formed. But after two weeks of use I really cant find anything to complain about.

Yes, the carafe is very light, but I like it. And it pours well with no drips. I havent yet attempted to program the machine cause thats not a necessity for me, but hit the "ON" button and in about 5 minutes you have a fast, hot, and extraordinarily flavored pot of coffee. And this is honestly the best coffee I've ever had from this machine, even much better than my old Pro Aroma from the same manufacturer.

I dont know how Krups does it, and I dont care, this machine is just one of the best on the market today, and probably thee best when we're talking about the quality of the end result...which is all that matters. 5 beans

I am a self-confessed coffee junkie. With or w/o the caffeine (pregnancy and such) I love the taste; and the taste of the coffee that I've brewed with this machine was great.Loved it, loved it, loved it.The machine was easy to use and looked pretty darn cool sitting there on my counter. The only issue that i have is that the espresso side seems to need some encouragement. The knobs need to be fiddled with a bit in order to get the espresso to start dripping (even after 10 minutes during a holiday party full of thirsty coffee drinkers).Thought that was just b/c my machine was so new, but it's been doing that ever since the first use.Still, it's not terribly difficult, and the coffee is oh-so-yummy!

Krups XP1020 750-Watt Steam Espresso Machine with 4-Cup Glass Carafe Review

I just got one of these for Christmas to replace a similar unit I used for years. The first time I tried it, it spewed water and coffee grounds all over.It practically blew up!I reduced the amount of coffee (a good Italian espresso, pre-ground fine), and the same thing happened.According to the trouble-shooting guide, the grind was too fine.I tried a coarse grind with no blowups, but the coffee was wimpy.Apparently, this espresso machine wasn't meant to make espresso coffee. This never happened with my previous unit.Pass this one up.It is simply a piece of junk.

Saeco Bean To Brew 10-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe and Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel Review

Saeco Bean To Brew 10-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe and Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
** PLEASE SEE MY UPDATED COMMENTS ON BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW **

I was an early adopter for the Krups KM7000 and generally had a good experience, contrary to the negative reviews found here on Amazon for that machine. For the purposes of this review, I will use the KM700 as a comparison.

I pre-ordered the "Saeco Bean To Brew" in July and I was slightly apprehensive about trying such a new product prior to any reviews.Saeco has a tremendous reputation for high end espresso machines. But, they have almost no U.S. presence in consumer level home products, especially for drip coffee. So, it was my hope that their high-end features and technology would trickle down to this product. And I am very happy to report that this wish has been fulfilled! The "Saeco Bean To Brew" is a winner as it outshines the KM7000 in several important areas.

Construction
What I really appreciate are the little details that separate the Saeco from other coffee makers that I've used and seen. The Saeco feels solid and well constructed. It is deceptively heavy. The lids are sturdy and require some effort to snap shut. The bean hopper has a rubber gasket, which when sealed, should prevent air and moisture from entering the container. This ensures that the beans will stay fresh. The water lid swings on a hinge and must be pushed tight to close. This gives me a feeling of security that the water will stay relatively free of impurities when I have the unit preset for a morning brew.

Features
* Steam vent - this ingenious feature reduces condensation during the brewing process by releasing the steam out the front of the unit, away from the beans. This keeps the exterior of the coffee maker nice and dry while keeping the beans away from temperature fluctuation. The Krups KM7000, in contrast, does not have a steam vent. The condensation from that unit would drip down the sides and eventually form a puddle on my counter... and, the beans in the Krups hopper are exposed to the heat and moisture.
* The standard glass carafe is typical for this style of coffee maker. However, a very nice surprise is that the Saeco brew capacity is 12 cups and not 10 cups as advertised here on the Amazon product description.
* Gold tone filter basket included - nice touch that Saeco included this in the box.I had to purchase the basket separately for the Krups.
* Charcoal water filter - another unadvertised feature.Amazon does not mention that the unit comes with a built in charcoal filtration system.Unfortunately, Saeco forgot to include the filter in my packaging, so I had to purchase a set of Cuisinart filters from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
* Noise level - not silent, but significantly quieter than the Krups. On weekends, the Krups grinder would wake me up... the Saeco does not.

User Interface
* Simplicity - the Saeco is dead simple to set and use.The instruction manual is not really necessary for basic use.The Krups was only a little more confusing because the clock is set in 24 hour (military time). The Saeco uses a common 12 hour clock which is easy to program.
* Front Panel - nice, easy to read, blue backlit LCD front panel displays the time, # cups, strength and timer on/off settings
* Audible Feedback - annoyingly LOUD beeps confirm your selections and when the coffee has completed brewing. This is a feature that I could have lived without... but, I guess it's ok if you want to be notified (from across the house) when your coffee is ready.

Cleanliness
I can confirm through experience that the primary complaint about the Krups KM7000 on Amazon was the mess that it would leave on your countertop.I am very happy to report that the Saeco does not suffer from these design flaws. The Saeco is very clean and does not spew grinds or water on my counter.Keep in mind that you probably shouldn't place the Saeco directly under a cabinet because the steam vents upward (like chimney smoke).

Taste
* Strength - I like strong coffee. And the Saeco only slightly disappoints in this area.My wife has always complained that the Krups coffee was too strong. She thinks the Saeco tastes perfect.I think that the primary difference between the two units is the volume of coffee grounds used. The Krups grinds much more beans than the Saeco for each cycle.I have learned to compensate for this by setting the grinder for 2 more cups than the desired amount.Example, I set the grinder for 12 cups but only add 10 cups of water. This results in a cup more to my preference.
* Aroma Setting - The conical burr grinder has about 8 different settings that affect the grind coarseness.Through trial and error, I have noticed that the finest setting (#1) is almost too fine.On this setting the coffee tends to clump together and not push out the shoot quickly enough into the basket below before the automatic door closes.I think that the optimal setting (for strong coffee) is probably #3.The grind consistency on this setting travels much more smoothly into the basket.

Customer Service
I had to call customer service to inquire about the missing charcoal filter. The service rep was very friendly, knowledgeable and apologetic.Unfortunately, she could not issue me a replacement filter because the coffee maker was so new that they did not have any in stock. The filter was on order from Italy... but, she didn't have an estimated delivery date. The service rep recommended that I find another brand filter that would fit in filter basket (Cuisinart).

Conclusion
Overall I am very satisfied with the "Saeco Bean To Brew" coffee maker.I am impressed with the quality and engineering of the product. With a little trial and error, it delivers a delicious cup of coffee.I rate the maker 4 out of 5 stars.I am deducting ? star for the missing filter and ? star for the slightly weak taste. It is important to keep in mind that the coffee maker can be tricked into brewing a stronger cup... and that the average person would probably be satisfied with the default settings.

** EDIT 12/6/2010 **
I've had this item a couple of months now and I'm taking another 2 stars off my original rating for two reasons:
1) The beans continually get stuck in the grinder. This results in very little ground coffee landing in the basket... and weak coffee.I was able to temporarily fix this by removing the grinder cover which was restricting the flow of beans into the grinder.Unfortunately the beans recently started getting stuck again.I don't know what else I can tweak to get them flowing without tapping on the side of the machine during the grinding process.
2) Amazon dropped the price of this machine by $70.I pre-ordered at the original full price of $149.I've missed my return window by a couple of weeks... to say that I am disappointed is an understatement.

Krups KM4065 12-Cup Stainless-Steel Coffeemaker

This review is for the Krups KM 4065 coffeemaker. I believe this is the first of a new line of coffeemakers designed Bjorn Dahlstrom. At the moment, this coffeemaker is not on the Krups website and there is little information available on the web. I've only had it for a couple of days so here are my initial thoughts.

Pros:
1. Looks fantastic
2. Seems reasonably well built and the top door opens and closes smoothly
3. This has a different water gauge from the FM series and it works well and is easy to read (no bubbles).
4. I've filled the reservoir from both a Brita pitcher and from the included carafe without spillage. (That said the fill area is at the back near the door hinge)
5. Uses #4 Filters
6. Makes a great cup of coffee
7. The included carafe pours well

Cons:
1. Pricey for a unit without a thermal carafe
2. Programming is non-intuitive and a little frustrating
3. Manual could be a lot better
4. Like most stainless steel appliances, fingerprints may be an issue if you are not careful
5. Durability of main button to open top lid remains to be determined
6. Carafe seems a little light and the cover flimsy

Overall, I am very pleased with this beautiful coffeemaker. It looks like the design changes have addressed the water gauge issue with the FM series and so far I've had no leaks. The carafe works well so coffee spillage is not a problem and most importantly my initial experience is that this machine makes good coffee.

I have deducted one star due to the fact I've only had it 2 days and can't attest to the long-term durability of the unit and it is a little pricey compared to competing units.

This coffee maker worked & looked great the 1st few months.Several times we got up to coffee all over the counter. After 1 year the error code came up that you had to call Kichenaid (Whirlpool). They quickly sent another - it worked for about 3 days, the same error code came up & they quickly sent another. It worked for about 2 months, spilled twice so quit using the programmer - Whirlpool actually called us to see how things were going.Told them about the spills and they sent a new lid for the pot that had been designed. It did work better but again the error code came up.Called them again & they sent yet another replacement.Same problems with the coffee all over the counter & the newer lid.Gave up, dumped it and bought a really nice 14 cup Cuisinart - about 1 year now & it's working fine with no spills.I will say Kitchenaid/Whirlpool customer service agents were extremely nice & helpful.

I'm at a loss as to the problems some other reviewers have had with this coffeemaker.I actually purchased the white unit but it's the same as this one except for the color and metal trim. I bought this machine locally and then went and read the reviews here on Amazon to make sure it was an OK unit.I was on the verge of returning it due to some of the negative comments but I figured "ah, to heck with it" and went ahead and set it up.First off, it makes a great cup of coffee and it's EASY to program. The pot is easy to pour...NO DRIPS and the water level indicator works as it should.I just wonder if all the negative reviewers work for the competition because I found no problems with this unit at all. Now, of course, time will tell if it will last many years as did my last machine but my first impressions are very good.

Krups FMF5 Coffee Maker Review

Krups FMF5 Coffee Maker
Average Reviews:

Krups FMF5-14 10-cup programmable coffee machine, black.
I just don't understand all the negative reviews about this Krups Coffee Maker. Was there a plastic smell while brewing? Yes, but only the first time running only water through the machine & not at all since. Were there air bubbles in the gauge that tells you how many cups you are brewing? Again yes the first time I used it with water only. All I had to do is remove the plastic indicator, blow through it and presto no more bubbles. It really isn't rocket science.

I am not a a light coffee drinker & I have about 3-4 mugs a day, my coffee is very important to me, so when I read all the negative reviews about this coffee maker I panicked. I went out and bought a Cussinart Thermal Coffee Maker instead, that was a mistake.

I used to belong to the Gevalia Coffee Club & when I joined I got a free 12 cup non-thermal coffee maker. It made/makes great coffee. It is the one I have been using for over 8 years. I had learned years ago that even though it had the Gevalia name on it, it was actually made by Krups. I should of ignored the bad reviews of the Krup FMF5 Thermal Coffee Maker & go with a brand I know works great.

I returned my Cussinart, got this coffee maker & couldn't be happier. This Krups makes great coffee, keeps it hot for hours & is hassle free. It also has some nice features like a water filter in the reservoir & an empty reservoir warning just to name a few. There is no plastic taste in the coffee.

So just follow the simple instructions & recommendations, sit back & enjoy a great cup of coffee. Come back in a few hours & you can do the same.
