Kritter Keeper, Medium Review

Kritter Keeper, Medium

This size kritter keeper holds about three gallons of water. I've found it makes a good hospital tank for ill fish. Its the perfect size so dispensing medications is more cost effective. Plus, you can route in a penn plax smallworld filter (minus carbon, because that takes medication out of the water). Sick fish need aeration, and it works in this small tank.

Never, ever make this kritter keeper a home for goldfish. Contrary to popular belief, goldfish need lots of water to make up for the massive amount of waste they produce. This size would be alright for a betta (who should never have less than a gallon of water, again, contrary to popular belief), maybe a trio of guppies if you have a filter.

This kritter keeper is great, as long as you know how to properly use it.

AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit - 3 Gallon Review

I got this little kit for my crown-tail betta Zurich. I think it's a fantastic little tank if you stock it correctly and know how to work with nano systems.

Granted for most if not all suitable fish you will need a heater, as the tank design causes anything on the rear wall to be magnified I opted for a small 7.5 watt under gravel heater, it works like a charm and my fish stays nice and happy.
Hydor MINI HEATER Aquarium Heater 7.5 Watts for Tanks 2-5 gal

I use this tank for a planted set up and could only be happier if it came with a small internal filter rather then the UGF, but whatcha gonna do? It's not a big deal to me since I'm familiar with them from previous years of fish keeping. I've posted a picture with more information on my setup in the photo section as well.

It's been running for 3 weeks and so far I have not had any issues with bacterial blooms (cloudy water) or regular cleaning and water changes. If you have any questions feel free to comment, I'll be happy to answer =)

Mini Bow Desktop Kit Aquarium - 2.5 gallon - Blue Review

After the most recent demise of my last Betta- Hot Temper, who bless his heart, lived 2 years in a 1 gallon fish bowl, I found myself in a fish store (not so soon after, I did mourn the little guy). Wandering about I could not deny my instant love for a feisty beautiful little guy the size of a small drapery tassel, I brought him home (instant gratification and instant love is my middle name)...and proceeded to give him 'Hot Temper's' life all over again (yes...in a bowl), but this time I thought he might benefit from living at work with me (I work all the time)...fast forward to cute little fish, living on my desk, and between calls me looking up just what might make him happy (er)...I come to a sudden realization that I sucked as a fish mom(formerly) and needed to give the little guy what he truly deserved, more oxygen, more "toys", more room and heat.I bought this little aquarium wonder (w/a black top),bye bye bowl, and wow have I got one happy fish! This tank is an easy set up,the filter (that worried me sick) is great, it will not swallow or eat your Betta (as far as I can tell so far...thank goodness!),he is not struggling through any major currents and as far as I can tell, he is a happy camper (or show off). I purchased a small heater to keep his temp at what is most conducive to his normal habitat,my Betta is making bubbles nests, and showing off like a full finned champ. I always thought I had a happy Betta, until now, this fish is unbelievably active and showy.I know it's a fish, but he sure reminds me of a puppy with fins!I love this little tank, perfect on a desk top, easy to set up, perfect for a Betta (just buy a heater, plants, gravel and hiding nook and you're set!) Love this!!

Mini Bow Aquarium - 1 Gallon - Black Review

It is an ideal tank size for a betta. The filter works just fine and not too strong for the betta. I like the two convenient open holes for easy feeding. The light seems to generate too much heat if it is turned on for a long period of time which can cause the top cover melting out. I put in about an inch of gravel at the bottom. The water looks so clean after a week later. I can now do the 50 percent water change on the weekly basic. The betta seems to be happy with it.

Water Wonders - 1.5 gal. Aquarium Kit Review

Water Wonders - 1.5 gal. Aquarium Kit

This is a very nice set up.It comes with almost everything you need.Plants, light, filter, aeration, and sample water treatment and fish food.

The plants are nice. Good color, good quality. The Light are LEDs so they won't burn out.The filter is ok.It works for this small of a tank but the tank still needs to be cleaned often.(get one of those small siphons and clean out the gravel). And the air pump is quiet as long as it's on a flat surface and not touching anything.(although mine died after about two years but the pumps are easy to find and replace)

This tank is good for a single beta, or three Neon Tetras or Danios (leopard or zebra) the Beta and Danios are all very hearty fish and are easy to take care of. The Neon Tetras are a bit more picky and are more sensitive to their environment. Keep in mind the Neons and Danios are schooling fish and best kept in groups of three or more (usually in odd numbers) but I wouldn't put more than three in this tank. Also you can usually find "ghost shrimp" in pet stores that are fun to watch and help keep the tank clean (but you need to watch out for the little buggers when you siphon the tank) I wouldn't put more than one in the tank.

If you are a first-time fish owner here's a list of additional things to buy for this tank.
Gravel-just a small bag you can find at Walmart or any pet store, any color you wish.
Fish food-this comes with a small sample of fish food but it won't last you too long.
Small siphon- makes it much much easier to clean your tank with less stress for your fish.
Stress coat-helps protect the fish's natural coat and keep them safe after water changes or introduction to a new environment. Also removes chlorine from the water.
Small cave or other hide hole- gives the fish a place to hide to reduce stress. (highly suggested but not necessary)

If your beta goes `missing' don't panic, he's probably in hiding in the filter.Mine didn't do that until later in his life.He was just getting old I think. But it scared me when I couldn't find him.

This is also nice as a quarantine tank for sick fish. The tank won't discolor with the treatments but the airline tubing will (as any soft airline tubing would. They are easy to find and replace if you are picky about it)

Over all this is a nice tank.I like the simple look and the small compartment is nice to put the extra filters into. You only need a few things to get this up and running and it displays your fish well.
