(More customer reviews)I bought this filter around June 1 to replace another old sand filter. Because I was out of town for awhile I could not install this filter right away and it was about 2 weeks after it arrived I opened the box. This filter does NOT contain a base for the filter to sit on. Because the filter has a round bottom it can't stand on it's own without a base which should have been included in the box. Ever try to stand up an egg on it's end?
The manual in the box for the filter and the manual online at Haywards internet site for the same model numbers are not the same. There seams to be a production change with this filter and the base so that the base can be used on other models as well. Either way I was in the pool business for 7 years in the past and have never seen a filter that did not contain a base that sets it upright. A base for the filter is NOT an extra item. They are either already attached by glue/tape or have someway to mount the base to the filter. Without a base this filter is usless as you can't simply bury it in the ground. At current I'm trying to get a base from Hayward but they don't seem to want to help and there reply to my email was this... "The larger base only comes with the S166T92S system". Well as I replied back I'm not talking about a "Bigger" base. I'm talking about "ANY" base. So beware that the unit I received did NOT contain a base stand (also called a skirt) for the filter to sit on and my local pool place wanted $49.99 for the base which should have been included.
