Contacted the seller/company and received a full replacement pump and solar panel in a few days. Prompt, courteous customer service! Apparently, the solar panel was defective on the first shipment.

The pump and solar panel are working great for weeks now. I recommend the solar pump and seller/company to all. Am sitting in my patio now, enjoying the flowing fountain powered by solar energy.

Lily Floating Solar Pond Fountain Review

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift for my new pond and, having quite a bit of difficulty with it, I began looking at reviews on various sites to determine whether I just got a dud and should exchange it (which I had hoped...it is a gift) or if they are all duds and I needed to just give up and return it.

Based upon every place I found this sold that had reviews such as Sam's Wholesale, 2 pond stores, Overstock, and Amazon, everyone is having the same issues as me so this goes back in the box.First of all, the fountain spray is nothing close to the picture.It's a small trickle when it is working.Although my pond is in full Texas sun, it goes on and off and when it's off it looks like something fell in the pond, not a lilly pad or a fountain.I am guessing either the solar panel isn't strong enough or that the water falling on top of it creates the effect of a solar panel on a rainy day...not all that strong or not working at all. Honestly, I don't know why it has such issues.

The good news is that it is nice to have in your pond if you don't have established plants yet since frogs find your pond and it allows them a cool place to hang out.

The bad news is that this, on the product page, says it will clear up dirty water. Nope...the aeration is nice for fish, but you'll need a filter attached to your pump to clean up dirty water.

Bottom line: I'd love to find a solar fountain that works well as I only want a fountain during the day and one that doesn't need to be plugged in is perfect...but this rarely works and doesn't offer even the small spray seen in the ad photo...so this would not be the one. It goes back.

(More customer reviews)This is a very good pump for a small fountain or pond. I replaced a AC pump in a small ceramic fountain, lowest flow settings works great.

The user manual (5-page pamphlet) does not have good parts list and very limited instructions. There are no installation instructions for the solar panel. The is no information concerning the flow adjustment. Very good information about setting the time and battery life.

I read the negative reviews for this SOLAR pump (some even complain that it only works when it is sunny - - - duh).I have had my first one now for three years and I love it.It couldn't be easier to set up - a couple of screws, stick the panel into ground (it can also be mounted) and put the thingy in the birdbath and VOILA!
It isn't a fountain but it is perfect for a birdbath.I played with all the different heads that send the water up higher - about 8 to 10 inches - and opted to just use it with no head and let it bubble to a height of about 4 inches on sunny days and the birds go nuts for it - sometimes they sit right on top of it . . . bet that feels good on a hot day!
I confess that I am not that diligent about cleaning it out around the filter BUT this little pump is so forgiving that it keeps going anyway.Occasionally it needs to be taken apart if some debris gets in (you can tell when it happens because it makes a funny humming sound) but the maintenance is so minimal that only a birdbrain would find it a chore.
I have had the water wigglers in birdbaths - they're okay but they get funky and rusty - that is why I am buying my second and third solar pump to replace the wigglers in the other baths.
