(More customer reviews)With so many things to maintain for a pool already, the last thing I want to do is to maintain an automatic pool cleaner.If I have to replace belts, tracks, booster pumps, and so on, then I might as well spend that time with an old fashioned pole vacuum instead.Before I bought this T-Jet I had a tough time deciding between the Polaris series, T-Jet, and the Turbo T2 model.

I ended up buying the T-Jet because of the simplicity with so few moving parts that can break.I'm happy with the decision.The T-Jet cleans the pool crystal clear.But to get the best performance, first I had to make some adjustments to the setup out of the box.So here are some tips.

The settings on the T-Jet when it first arrives are for impressing you with the speed in which the water jets propel it across the pool - to maximize the water flow but not maximizing the cleaning potential.The changes I made were the following: 1. snap on the intake extender so that the suction port is closer to the pool surface, 2. slide the internal tab to narrow the intake slightly for more suction power, and 3. add two of the foam squares to the inside for more neutral bouyancy.

By increasing the bouyancy with the included foam pieces, the T-Jet more easily jets up the curve from deep to shallow.I also found that by increasing the lap time from 30s to 40-60s (max 90s) this gives it enough time to make the length of the pool (rather than just the width) before it reverses direction.

I read one review where someone said their T-Jet flipped upside down sometimes.I don't understand that because what I observed is that even when I push it around with my hand it wants to stay upright, and the floating power cord keeps vertical tension on it to keep it oriented correctly.I think that must have been user error.

Lately I just drop it in the pool once every few days and let it run all day long, or overnight.I was surprised how much dirt gets collected in the fine filter bag because the pool already looked clean but the filtering is really effective.I can run the main pump less so the DE filter doesn't have to work as much; I noticed that the PSI gauge doesn't increase as fast when I use the T-Jet.So it saves on electricity, since the T-Jet uses a fraction of the electricity as the main pump.

The only negative I found (and this is pretty minor compared to all the positives) is that the cord tends to get twisted up if I leave it in the pool for several days in a row.I have to remove it anyway to rinse out the filter bag.Then I untwist the cord.

I am happy that I bought this instead of the Turbo T2.I don't think the track models like the Turbo T2 can do anything better than this one, at least for my pool.I think those just have more moving parts to maintain.

Update 1/9/2010: I found out why people report sometimes that it stops climbing the wall.Those user-replaceable foam buoyancy squares on the bottom plate soak up water and wear out over time.Just replace them or add some more, takes 10 minutes.When mine wouldn't climb the wall as high anymore I inserted some more styrofoam squares from a shipping box.Now it climbs all the way up again.With this pool cleaner it is important to maintain the neutral buoyancy.

(More customer reviews)Not only does the Aquabot keep the bottom, sides, and steps of the pool clean, it's fun to watch!It also removed the black scuff marks left by the previous owners.After 4 hours of operation the metal box housing the power supply gets very warm, but this is probably normal.I see one area for improvement and this would be to have a swivel type of attachment where the cord attaches to the vacuum.The cord does get very wrapped and tangled around itself, so I have to untangle it or reverse the cleaning pattern each day.However, the time it takes to do that is far less than the time it would take to vacuum and brush down the pool manually.I highly recommend the Aquabot over the smaller automatic cleaners because it's bigger, faster, has its own power supply that you just plug into an outlet, and it does a thorough cleaning job.

(More customer reviews)After buying a small above ground pool with a fairly weak filter system, I found out that there are very few low cost options for cleaning the pool.This vacuum is one of them.

This vacuum works by having water literally shove the dirt off of the pool floor into the vacuum's brushes and into the filter bag.The filter bag is durable and the system generally works well.The vacuum is less effective at picking up the fine dust that seems to accumulate on the bottom of the pool.

The vacuum is remarkably effective at getting large dirt particles off the bottom of the pool floor and is rather easy to use.The "additional equipment" referenced in another review is a standard pool extension handle that can be found at any hardware or pool supply store during the summer.

Picks stuff off of bottom of pool that otherwise couldn't get to
Other options do not seem to be more effective

(More customer reviews)We bought this unit about 3 years ago from Specialty pool products.My husband wanted to replace another unit we had that worked off the pump and this unit is independent.The plus sides -- it works independently so you don't lose a skimmer like with you do with other models.You put the unit into the pool and there are two options for cleaning, a full cycle and a "quick clean."You use the cycle dependent upon how dirty the pool is.This unit cleans very easily and it really works great.If you have a lot of algae in the pool it will not climb the sides of the pool, it will simply slide down.

Here's the down side with a vinyl pool and we found out the hard way:if you do not have a heavy gauge pool liner this unit can pick up a pebble and drill it right through your liner.A year ago we had to replace our liner.I had a customer of ours order a liner.I did not know they came in various gauges and thought he ordered us the best product out there.We went ahead and replaced the liner.Right before a holiday my husband and his friend were cleaning up around the pool and took our backpack blower and blew off the walks around the pool.Sometime while doing that a rock must have been blown into the pool.I threw the pool cleaner in the next day and within 5 hours after taking it out the pool was low on water.The leakfinder guy we hired to find the leak said this is commonplace with a lot of pool vacuums.He rattled off several names but I can't remember which ones he spoke as being notorious for picking up debris and continually spinning it around until it cuts the liners.He explained that we had a thinner liner than we should have and it will make it more susceptible to holes.When I called the guy who sold me this unit he told me no one had ever called him with this problem.Just another case of a salesman not backing what he sells.

So there are the pluses and minuses.I make sure in the spring that I hand vacuum the pool several times before I put this unit in.And - if we have several people going in and out of the pool and hand vacuum the next time it needs it to make sure nothing got tracked in on feet.

(More customer reviews)Well built unit that works well.It does not get five stars because it does not appear to clean the sides and upper walls of the pool as well as my old earlier generation Aquabot (the plain vanilla, non-turbo, non-Bravo model).However, it does pick up larger pieces of debris such as leaves and twigs from the pool bottom.Construction seems very good, with fewer parts that can come off (the old aquabot had a habit of occasionally losing one or more of the ashers that held it together; sometimes it would eat them, and other times they would remain on the bottom of the pool).Timed operation is a plus; you are less likely to leave the poor robot to work overtime for no reason.My purchasing experience through Aquatic Distributors was FANTASTIC!!After I had received the Aquabot Turbo-T that I had ordered, I called to thank them for really fast delivery.I spoke with Ken, who told me that he had tried to reach me to tell me they were running a special on the Bravo, which normally is a few hundred dollars more. (More customer reviews)I Have owned more expensive units costing 1000-1400. I took my chance on this one. At first the unit would not climb, then it just stopped working. I must say at first I was disappointed, soI returned it to the Manufacturer for a replacement. The new one worked fantastic! It climbs walls doesn't scrub the water line but will clean up to it. That is not a problem for me, as non of the other models did a great at this. It does a great job on the bottom and cleans the deep end as well as the shallow end. Will not climb stairs, but don't get hung up on that, none of the previous models did a good job at that either.

The unit is able to go up the steep grade in my pool were other models I have owned would fall back down to the deep end. In addition, it has a great feature: if it senses that it is stuck- like on the pickup drains on the bottom, it will pop a wheely and navigate out of its stuck position. The more expensive units I had owned would get stuck and I would have to pull them off the main suction drain.

The unit is light and easy to pickup out of the water. The filter design is very easy to remove and clean and a breeze to put back on. I found that the Dolphin was the most difficult and the hayward cartridge design was not as effective as the bag type.

Another plus is the entire unit is modular: meaning that you can buy a replacement motor or brush and replace them yourself. Once it goes out of warranty this feature will be a benifit.

I would recommend this unit to anyone that is looking for the best bang for the buck.plus it comes with a Caddy...

(More customer reviews)I have used this Floatron for over ten years in a twelve-foot aboveground pool in South New Jersey and am very satisfied with its performance.I just left it floating all the time, and it kept the water free of algae and turbidity to the point that I used chlorine only once in Spring after removing the winter tarp, and once more in late Fall before putting the pool cover back on and disconnecting the pump.In all those years, I had to replace the copper electrode twice, at $50.00 or so each time, but I guess chemical treatment would have cost more in money and maintenance time.

The only slight cons are that when my children were younger and practically lived in that pool during the swimming season, their blond hair seemed occasionally to get a slightly greenish tint,and some white T-shirts showed the same coloration, but it was slight and never bothered us.Also, the rubber bumper strip around the Floatron's circumference came loose and split, and I had to caulk it back into its groove.

Some of that old Floatron's photocells look discolored now, as if water had leaked into or around them, and last summer I had to use chlorine a couple of times to keep the water clear.I guess therefore that this Floatron has reached the end of its lifespan, and I am replacing it with a new one, but the old one has served us well and fully earned its retirement.

(More customer reviews)I don't know what the deal is with the first reviewer.This product is great.I purchased the "max" PoolBuster two years ago.My only problem is that last year the battery would not take a charge.WaterTech (the manufacturer) replaced the whole unit... and had the replacement to me within days of sending them the old unit.
Bottom line is that the PoolBuster is a real work saver... you can vacuum a pool like mine (16 x 32 inground) in about 20 minutes without getting out the vacuum hose and having to backwash after vacuuming.Only thing you should buy is the extra fine collection bag for vacumming find debris.

This unit works off of an electric transformer that steps the voltage down from 110 to 12 volts.It's pricey but thoroughly cleans my pool in 1 hour.It takes the load off the pump by working off an electric line and capturing even fine particles in a fine mesh, cloth bag.The bag is cleaned after each use - takes about 5 minutes.I did have some problems wuth the first unit I purchased; but the customer support was excellent.After the first repair failed to solve my problem; the manufacturer replaced the unit.The 5-year warranty also eases any worries regarding future problems.All in all, it's the best pool cleaner I have ever used.

Pentair K50600 Kreepy Krauly E-Z Vac Suction-Side Above Ground Pool Cleaner Blue/White Review

(More customer reviews)I have had many of these suction side Pool Vacuums in the past 15 years. Out of all of them this one is easy to maintain and seems to be made of robust materials. It does not get stuck on ladders and most of all it doesn't get leaves caught in the inlet causing it to stall. I have not had to pull it up to clear the inlet for any reason yet. The in line regulator allows me to hook it up directly to a secondary suction line I installed for easy hookup and storage. I can turn on the valve to full flow and the unit runs consistantly. It comes with everything you will need to hook up to the pool side strainer. There is a diverter that comes with it to prevent the return water from pushing the hose around, but I have not had to use it. It seems to get everywhere without having to divert the return water at all. But you have it if you choose to use it.

(More customer reviews)This is truly a must have product.We have a large inground pool, and it cleans it up quickly and easily.Great for the in between touch ups.I never bought the sand and silt bag because of the price, instead I use a cut down knee high nylon stocking, placed inside the bag it comes with and fold it over the rubber, this method picks up every last bit of sand (we live near the beach).

(More customer reviews)This filterbag is simply the same filterbag comes with the unit. The difference is that the fabric is denser and thicker hoping that it will catch the sand and silt. But in reality, it is not working. Probably because of the thick fabric, the water cannot go through the filter freely. The suction power is not as strong. I do see sand in the bag but not much. Ther sand is stirred up. You will see next day that it goes back to the bottom of the pool. It is very expensive as a filter. I don't object people making decent profit out of great products. But this filter is way too expensive for what it does or should I say what it does not.
