Intex says they will ship me another system, but it has been 2 weeks and still nothing. Everything was good on shipping and the product was in great shape. Would recommened this to others, and if the saltwater system worked, it would be wonderful. very sturdy and easy to set up. Did this by myself and it took around 4 hours....

(More customer reviews)You can't get more for your money than one of these pools, period. If it lasts 2 or 3 seasons so what. I replaced an Aqua Leasure after 2 or 3 with an Intex 15X42. Both worked very well. The sides of the Intex are a little more upright so you have more usable area inside the pool which I like. This makes the sides a little less stable but even with 9 year olds jumping over the sides you don't lose any or hardly any water unless they a couple of them lay on the upper air ring and try to push it down. The Intex and Aqua are both very sensitive to level ground. Mine is on the patio concrete which slopes away from the house for rain run off purposes. Even this causes considerable uneveness in the water level. I added some carpet pieces to the "low side" just under the outside edge. Helped a little I think. Again, so what. Water is full on one side a few inches low on the other. No one but me even notice. But don't try to set up on more slope than I'm discribing. Filter works fine. Skimmer pole is very sturdy. Ladder works fine and does not rust for some reason like the Aqua Leisure did. I use clorine strips to test water. Just dip and read. Very easy. Be sure to keep clorine level up. I added clorine after tester showed white or none. Wrong, add before clorine goes to zero level or you will get dark emerald green swamp water as a surprise one day. Triple clorine or so solved problem. Leslie pools were very helpful and refused to sell me more expensive fix I was demanding."Just try the extra clorine first, sir". Intex comes with nice cover too. Helps keep pool clean, but if dirty you can do two things. Put garden hose in pool with a weight on the end and run water to fill the hose. Turn off and remove from hose bib and take quickly to lower ground setting up a siphon. Get in pool and "vacume" up the dirt with slow even strokes. On a hot day, if you like to keep a clean pool, very pleasurable job. Oh, before the vacume get in and run around the pool creating a spinning vortex or what ever you call it. In 30 minutes or more the dirt will consentrate on ridges in the bottom. (hard not to have some)
Setup is of course much longer than the 15 minutes or so advertized. The reason is because it is a little hard to spread the pool out evenly. The warmer the weather the better to soften the plastic. And once you get a inch of wate in the pool it becomes VERY heavy and hard to change. Use the plastic tarp for sure so you don't slide the pool on concrete or something abrasive. Infact try not to slide the pool at all. Lift and fold instead. I had to move the pool once this year (Wifes idea)folded and placed on piano mover (lowboy with casters). Left in the sun and when I went to move it, sides had fallen down and were scraping on concrete for about 10 ft of travel. Yup, three holes.(Wifes fault) Used the hole patch stuff from the inside and no leaks. Here in southern Cal I keep it up for maybe 4 month per year. After that kids don't seem to use it and water is not near as warm. My child loves it, neighbors love it. Neighbor put in pool so it got lots less use this season but they still come over to both houses. I paid $210 at Leslies Pools in Fontana CA location (big selection)Have seen them less and 50% higher other places. These are real pools by the way. You'll want to spend a little time with them cleaning and checking clorine, using filter etc. But after 4 months my pool is in the garage waiting for next year and there "real" pool is in need of a pool boy all year with all the other costs. Ok, their pool looks nicer with all that concrete and faux rock and plants and lighting. But for $200 bucks this pool is a deal. If I have the time I'll try to upload some video later.

(More customer reviews)I bought this pool last month (July) and have been swimming in it almost everyday!I only wish I bought it sooner.I did have ground leveling issues, but that was my own fault and not the pool itself.I highly recommend completely leveling your ground before putting the pool up and filling it. I learned this the hard way.My ground was not level, so we ended up having to put bricks under the un-leveled poles.As of now, it has been working out great.Since I bought the pool so late in the summer, I figured this could be a temporary fix.But next season, I will be sure to level out the ground first.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this pool at the end of May in 2010.I put the pool on level ground (which is necessary).I then started to fill the pool.The pool started leaking from the bottom seam.The pool was filled about 18 inches at this point.It was the weekend, so I had to wait to call customer service until Monday morning.I explained that I just bought this pool and that it should not be leaking!They told me they would replace the liner but I would have to return the following items from the liner:

1. Intex Logo from Sidewall of Pool
2. Drain Area
3. 6" x 6" of the Pool Floor
4. A cut-out of the defective area (if available)
5. Inflation Valve (for Easy Set and Oval Frame)

Once they received these items with a copy of my sales receipt, they would replace the liner.I asked them how long this would take.They told me it would take approximately 10 business days to process it and then they send it out to you which can take another 10 - 14 business days to receive.Are you kidding me?I would not get this until the end of June???They said they do not ship overnight so I would have to wait.I asked for a supervisor and I was told that they would contact me, which never happened.I didn't want to go through wasting the water I already put into the pool so I repaired the area.I had to put a patch on the top and on the bottom of the pool.The patch worked for the summer, but I will never purchase another Intex product again!

(More customer reviews)This pool is great!Setup was relatively easy but you do need a helping hand (my 13 y.o. helped me) and there are some things you should be aware of before you purchase it.

1. If you purchase the 18' X 9' X 52" pool with saltwater filter, you'll need 115 pounds of salt which cost me $30.00 at a local pool supply store.I bought 4 bags (each bag weighed 40 pounds) and used slightly less than 3 to start the system.You'll need to add more salt occasionally (30 pounds or so) when the code on the filter tells you to do so.

2.5-6 feet of free space is required around the perimeter of the pool.(I didn't have this space available and had to change my desired location for the pool.)This is because the U-shaped metal supports, attached to the top rail, lay flat on the ground outwardly during setup.Then you pick the top rail off the ground which makes the U-shaped supports slide into place.This starts holding the pool up and in place.Your helper then attaches the pool liner to the bottom of each support.I hope this makes sense.You definitely need that extra space around the pool!

3.Your area should be very level.Take the time to clear rocks that could puncture the liner and to prep the area well.I think the best place for the pool would be on level cement.

(More customer reviews)We have the 12'X 36", which is almost the same size, and are extremely pleased with it. It is a lot of pool for the money!
The exterior white pipes are a sturdy metal that interlock with each other and slip through a very strong vinyl casing around the top of the heavy vinyl blue pool itself. Since we already had a level spot from previous pools, it took only an hour or so, for my children to assemble it themselves, with their 14 yr. old brother. As many people have stressed on other pool reviews, YOU MUST MUST have a level site and this can take lots of work, so don't expect to just open it and start assembling. Once the pool was filled with water, I was surprised by how much more solid it seemed than our previous Easy set and simple set pools had been. It's like there's some kind of dynamic balance between the metal frame and the heavy vinyl pool wall and all the water. My son insists it is superior to our old pools.
An important note is that this pool is truly 12 feet across the top, unlike the easy and simple set ones that measure 12 feet on the bottom diameter but far less, closer to 9+ feet across the top, and this pool can be filled up to 90% of its sidewall height. Our old easy set pool was supposed to be filled only to 80%, so when you compare this pool with those kind, remember that this one has more usable swimming area and depth.
This kind of pool can not be winterized and left up in climates where the winter temperatures drop below freezing, so keep that in mind. We live in the northeast of the US, so pools are useful at most from approximately Memorial Day to shortly after Labor Day, and we think that inexpensive above ground pools are economical. Also, we have found that the more expensive chemical testing kits, like the ones at Walmart for $12.97, that test for for at least five things, are a good investment, even for small pools. If you don't add stabilizer (cyanuric acid) and keep your ph steady, you will spend too much on chemicals overall. I wasted lots of chlorine over the years before I realized that. Small pools are economical but the chemical maintenance is more challenging than it might seem. I looked into Bacquacil (a non-chlorine sanitizing system, that is not as tricky to test and manage as a chlorine system) and was told by one pool dealer that it might clog up cartridge filters in small pools, but the website for Bacquacil says you can use it with this kind. We are going to try that.
Also, our pool came with a well made ladder, noticeably better quality than our previous pool sets, and had a lightweight pool cover and a small pool skimmer and vacuum. These small vacuums work on whats called a "venturi" effect. Not as efficient as the kind in big pools. Just make sure that you put a big fresh container of water in front of the ladder and make the kids rinse off their feet before going in.

(More customer reviews)What a wonderfully priced pool!Comes with pump with one filter (you will need to buy additional ones and you should change your filter every two weeks) and pool cover too!!!That was a great bonus!I set the pool up by myself and had no problems at all.It took about an hour to get the frame, pump and liner adjusted, and then I just filled it with water!Wow, we're quite impressed!

We have a little pitch in our yard, but the pool is standing beautifully.I purchased black gym tiles here on amazon to line our concrete backyard as a base.A wonderful addition if you have concrete yards like us.Makes a nice cushy bottom for the pool, and we don't have to worry about concrete poking holes in the pool!

Sure the price is right, but keep in mind that you need to buy lots of chemicals and pool cleaning accessories to keep yours up and running.This is my first pool and so far so good - learning to get the water levels just right will take time, but I am happily learning.

I recommend this pool highly.We have two little children and this size is perfect for them, as well as Mommy and Daddy!When I sit in the pool, the water level hits my chin.That is a perfect height to get me through the NY summers.I plan on carefully packing this pool away after the summer (and scrubbing and drying my foam tiles) and I hope to get at least two-three more summers out of it... then we will step up to the bigger Intex pool!

(More customer reviews)This pool was relatively easy to put up. I lost the directions and was able to assemble it anyway. The only problem was the bottom ring: The rail that the sidewall sits in needs to have cleats to retain the sidewall while assembling. It is advisable to have 4 adults to retain the wall in the bottom ring while stretching the liner into place as the wall came out of the ring 3 times...once while the liner was 70% in place.over all this is an easy, but time consuming assembly.

(More customer reviews)We live in Florida and have had this pool in use for four months.We really enjoy it and use it daily.It took about two hours to set up on a concrete pad we had poured for it.The instructions for setting up and operating the pool were clear and correct.It looks very nice and the quality seems excellent for the price.The chlorine generator/salt-water system works perfectly.Except for the initial salt and a few adjustments to keep the PH balanced, we have done nothing to the water which is sparkling clear.The water feels nice on the skin and there is no chlorine smell.The water has a barely noticeable salt taste, but swimming underwater with eyes open causes no irritation or redness.The included skimmer and vacuum system both work very well.The volleyball net that comes with the pool is very well made and is a nice addition to the pool, especially for our grandkids.The pump, which was very quiet initially, has gotten louder, but it still works fine and the noise is not really loud enough to be an issue.This may be unique to our particular pump, but is mentioned because it is the only complaint we have had with any of it so far.We plan to take it down when the water gets too cool to enjoy.This may sound like a lot of work, but it is a clever system that is easy to assemble.Winterizing a permanent pool and getting it ready again for the next swimming season is a fair amount of work and chemical expense also.We have had above and in-ground pools previously and this seems like a good idea.If there are storage or reassembly problems, I will update this review next year.

(More customer reviews)Purchased for $[...] including shipping. Was a bit unsure at first about the quality/durability at this price. It is now set up and in use and all my concerns were unfounded. This is a relatively new pool design and it is really ingenious. Assembly is straightforward, instructions quite clear, no missing parts and the fit and finish were excellent. Really exceeded my expectation honestly. Best for a family with kids who want to get a fairly large pool up very quickly that should last 5 - 10 years with proper care. Everything needed is included in this package and the pump, filter and chorine generator are adequate for the pool size. The whole pool is assembled with not bolts or screws. You will need blocks to level with the ground for each leg and this can take a couple of hours to do. I would suggest 2 2x6x16" boards side by side rather than patio blocks. Cheaper, more durable, easier to set and easier on the vinyl retainers. At this price I would really be surprised if anyone would be disappointed unless they just didn't understand the different types of pools. I am updating this review after owning the pool for two seasons. I noticed that people are complaining about difficulty taking the pool down for the winter. The simple solution is don't!!! There is no reason to take it down. Just make sure you reomoved the valves and fittings from the side of liner, remove the interior plugs (leave the exerior caps on), and cover it. This will drain the pool a few inches but you just fill it up in the Spring. Whatever wear and tear you think you are saving by trearing it down for the Winter is misguided. The pool can easily withstand the cold weather is closed as indicated above. It is much harder on the liner and frame to take it down with all the prying it off the frame (which would get scratched and eventually rust then) and dragging it around. I hope this helps someone avoid a lot of hard, discouraging work for nothing. I would also strongly suggest getting a sand filter for the pool too. It will save you a lot of time and trouble keeping it clean. Another trick it to make a "bottom drain" by using a 3x3x2" or 3x3x1 1/2" PVC tee with PVC drain grates glued into each 3" end and a hoe barb fitting in the small hole. You can then connect this to the inlet and pull water from the bottom which works better for opening the pool. Once it is clear you can probably just stick with the skimmer for the season.
