I used these for several years at an RV park where my trailer sat year-round.The water quality wasn't great, and this filter did a beautiful job clarifying it.I would connect it to the supply hose, flush, then connect to the trailer.Periodically, I'd back-flush the filter - and would be AMAZED at what came out.Every 2nd or 3rd back flush, I'd replace it.

Mine was attached to the trailer using the 12" white, potable water hose provided with the filter.(RV to 12" hose to filter to supply hose) What I noticed over time, however, is that the extra weight of the filter was pulling down on the RV water connector to the point where it was threatening to pull it off the side of the trailer. My recommendation is to toss the 12" hose and buy a longer potable water hose to run between the RV and the filter.
