For some reason Capresso has decided to make all of their all-in-one grinder / brewers with the burr grinders locked away inside where they can not be cleaned, inspected and replaced when needed.

We own a different Capresso CoffeeTeam Grinder / Brewer that uses the same burr set up and finally found all of the hidden screws to remove to allow thorough cleaning of the grinder. The hardest part is figuring out how to dismantle their puzzle. Unfortunately Capresso has also decided to refuse to sell parts for the machine, except for items such as lids and carafes.

Recently our coffee seemed weak. I had just totally cleaned both burrs and everything was as clean as new. I found the problem to be dull burrs which slowed down the grind speed producing less coffee grounds and thus weak coffee. I replaced the burrs with a set from our Capresso 560 grinder and now we've got full strength coffee again.

The problem I now face is that Capresso REFUSES to sell the lower burr, the one that is the dullest. They consider this an internal part. I now have a useless $80 grinder that I sacrificed to save a $300 coffee maker.

I have called Capresso several times trying to find a way to buy a complete burr set and was appalled by the attitude, arrogance and rudeness of the people on the phone that got incensed when I did not happily accept their answer "We do not sell internal parts." They were not helpful at all and worse yet, did not seem to care. I don't think they do, at least not the people I could get in contact with.

We like out CoffeeTeam better than we like the company.

Capresso, very disappointing to deal with.

Grindmaster GPOD PrecisionBrewTM Single Cup Coffee / Tea Brewing System Review

Grindmaster GPOD PrecisionBrewTM Single Cup Coffee / Tea Brewing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this as a closeout, not knowing anything about pod coffeemakers, except that they seemed so convenient for whenever anyone wanted decaf or flavored coffees, since we always brew full caffein espresso for Cafe Americano and lattes. At first we weren't too happy - we could only get about 5 ounces of fairly weak coffee, and we like large cups.Well, one day, after moving the machine, and playing with the buttons, we started to get 8+ ounces, and the coffee is good and strong. We just had a party, where everyone could choose from a selection of pods, and it was a big hit!I'm not sure I'd pay the full list price for this machine, although it is built like a tank and will probably last 10 times longer than the lightweights, but it was certainly a lucky day for me when I found this one!

Bosch Tassimo TAS4511UC Coffee Maker, Single Serve Review

Bosch Tassimo TAS4511UC Coffee Maker, Single Serve
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Bosch Tassimo is an excellent single-serve brewing machine.I've been using the Keurig system (which I love) for several years, but wanted a machine at the office which could make a decent cup of espresso. This machine does not disappoint.

Overall, it's quieter than the Keurig and more energy efficient. It only heats the water when you are ready to make the coffee. However, it is very fast, so don't worry about speed.

It makes a good cup of espresso.Though not as good as freshly ground beans from our super-automatic at home, the machine makes a better cup than I've had at many coffee shops.

The only difference I can tell between the $99 version and the $139 version is the inclusion of a water filter on the more expensive model and a more attractive finish. Both produce a fine cup of coffee and are sturdy, well-built machines.Because the cheaper model does NOT have a water filter, it holds slightly more water.I plan to use bottled water in my machine, so it makes little difference to me.The Bosch also has a smaller footprint than the Keurig machine.

It produces excellent coffee that is tailored to the type of coffee you are making. The one downside to the system is that there is not the VARIETY of coffee available for it that you can find for the Keurig. But, I think the taste of the coffee is superior, and you can't make an espresso with a Keurig. The Starbuck's blends produced for the coffee maker are excellent and taste fresh.I particularly recommend Starbucks Africa Kitamu, T-Discs for Tassimo System, 6.1-Ounce Packages (Pack of 2) for those who like a very strong and bold-flavored coffee. The Starbucks House Blend, Medium, T-Discs for Tassimo System, 6.1-Ounce Packages (Pack of 2) tastes VERY much like the brew you get at the bistro (or better) for a much smaller cost.

Remember, there are TWO different types of milk cartridges for Tassimo. Latte's use a regular steamed milk cartridge and machiatos and cappuccinos use a frothed milk cartridge. Same milk, different texture due to differences in bar coding on each of the disks.

Highly Recommend This Machine.

Keurig Single Serving Coffee and Tea Maker Bundle- B77 Review

Keurig Single Serving Coffee and Tea Maker Bundle- B77
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I give this 3 stars just because it is a Keurig and the single serve system is great.
I do however have a beef with this model. Not only is it more expensive than your BJ's or Costco it also lacks certain features you get when you purchase the B70 model. I just bought mine at BJ's and I am returning it to purchase a B70 model.
The differences are:
B70 ( Platinum )
Cup sizes up to 12oz
Adjustable Temp
Lacks the 72 K-Cups instead you get 12.
B77 ( Select )
Stops at 10oz
No Adjustable Temp.
Bonus 72 K-Cups instead of the 12.

If you don't care much for the differences then the extra K-cups might make it worth the buy. I would still suggest you get it from BJ's or Costco since this price is $30 more here than they have it for.
I wanted the 12oz so I decided to forgo the extra k-cups and I am going for the B70 (Platinum).

Braun Tassimo TA1200 Single-Serve Hot-Beverage System Review

Braun Tassimo TA1200 Single-Serve Hot-Beverage System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this product from Target for $129 today for two reasons:1 - I have recently developed a dependence on Starbucks Caffee Mocha - it does not have much of a coffee taste, which I like, and the shot of espresso in it helps me concentrate.I work at home and its easy to get distracted. The small size has been costing me over $3 so I need to just make it at home 2 - Though I'm not a coffee drinker, most of my friends are and Ilike the idea of being able to offer them a cup of coffee, cappucino or espresso (or hot chocolate) now and then.

I researched the single serve machines quite a bit and found that Tassimo is a good machine, though the coffee is not as good as if made from freshly ground beans in a french press. That's okay with me - I'm just making one serving a day of espresso and mixing in a bunch of skim milk and chocolate powder so it does not have to be the best coffee flavor.Very practical as it is quick and each cup costs around $0.50 based on the T-disc prices.Note:the milk discs use a liquid rather than a powder, and this supposedly makes a better cappucino than the machines that use powdered milk disks.I use the Gevalia Espresso, then add hot skimmed milk frothed with the handheld Aerolatte, then add two spoons of Ghiradelli hot chocolate mix. It tastes great, albeit not quite as rich as Starbucks product.A friend stopped by and I made him a cup of coffee using a Maxwell house coffee disc (Target had a coupon for a free box of them when I bought the machine) and he said the coffee was very good.

You can remove the drip cup and put a full size travel mug under it if you want, though you may get a few drips on the counter after pulling your mug away. This thing is very easy to clean -the three parts you'd want to clean are easy to pull off the machine, and could go in the dishwasher though I just rinse them with clean water right after using the machine and put them back. Also, the machine allows you some control so you can increase or decrease the amount of water, and thus the strength, using the start/stop button.

My Bed, Bath and Beyond store had a great selection of Gevalia capuccino and espresso disks, and the tea and the hot chocolate disks.Target only had Maxwell House coffee disks.

In one way the Keurig machine is superior - you can make your own coffee pods. This allows you to use any type of coffee you want, and freshly ground from beans. If you are a SERIOUS coffee drinker, you should prob get the Keurig instead so you won't be limited on coffees you can use as you are with the Tassimo product.

This coffeemaker does what it says - makes good coffee, dee-lishis customizable coffee, in fact - using either ground or pod.BUT, if you have someone who is sleeping anywhere near the kitchen, beware.Grinding, thumping and bumping.Oh, and beeping - three piercing ones when the process is complete.AND, oops, if you remove the water container for re-fill whilst the machine is on, the beeping gets out of control.four stars - minus one for the sound issues.

Bosch TAS6515UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, Twilight Titanium Review

Bosch TAS6515UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, Twilight Titanium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have wanted a one cup brewing system for a long time but hesitated after sampling the Keurig system beverages at a gourmet cooking shop demonstration. A friend and I made our selections and had the coffee brewed for us. The initial delight with trying out a new machine was quickly replaced with the reality of a very weak, tasteless, stale cup of coffee. We both took a sip and tossed the cups in the trash. The woman demonstrating the system kindly offered us the choice of another variety, but the results were the same. The idea of the beverage system was clearly better than the execution.

Over the last couple of years I've sampled a few other Keurig varieties, and continued to be disappointed. So, I was skeptical, but hoped the Tassimo would produce a higher quality product, and without question it did not disappoint. Will this replace a $1200 espresso bar? No. Will it replace your favorite coffee shop's concoctions? No. But it makes an excellent cup of coffee, a plus when you just want a cup and don't want to brew a whole pot, and it makes excellent coffee drinks along with tea.

The Tassimo Bosch T65 automatic hot beverage system comes with clear instructions and minimal requirements to get started. An optional water filter is included. This filter is very similar to the one I use in my Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee maker. In both instances use of a filter is optional but since the quality of the water used to brew coffee or tea greatly affects the end results,I always use either a filter or filtered water.

The unit is incredibly quiet and efficient - the water heats up immediately. There are warning lights for almost every eventuality from too little water in the tank, to when it is time to descale the unit. The machine itself has a nice solid feel -- not flimsy. The maintenance requirements are no worse than those for any quality coffee maker -- they need to be kept clean for optimal performance.

The discs have a barcode which when read, permits each drink to be precisely brewed for optimal taste. But, if after sampling a disc, a level of customization is desired, there is a manual over-ride to permit a smaller size stronger drink or a larger weaker cup. I made one cup after another without any delay. The water tank is large -- 61 ounces -- so it doesn't require frequent filling.

A criticism of the Tassimo over the Keurig is the availability and selection of the discs but I found the discs in many easily accessible retailers including a couple big box store's grocery departments, and of course, they are all over the internet. Currently two free packages of T discs are available when registering the product on the Tassimo web site. This provides a great opportunity to sample a variety of discs and find favorites. The discs I've sampled are listed below. There are currently five different Starbucks varieties available alone. Tazo and Twinings teas are also among the selections, and many more I look forward to tasting.

Starbucks Café Verona - my favorite by far. The coffee is strong and delicious. Even when cold the coffee maintains its flavor. Not quite the coffee shop quality but very close.

Starbucks House Blend - very good. The cup brewed was delicious but the flavor took a drastic dive as the cup cooled and became almost undrinkable. Drink it hot.

Gevalia Signature Blend - this is the only variety I tried and would not buy again.Although it isn't weak, the coffee tastes like bad vending machine brew. A little stale with a flavor reminiscent of coffee brewed through old gym socks. Ugh.

Gevalia Cappuccino - good flavor. The brew is almost a perfect balance of milk (2% so relatively low fat) to espresso with a decent, although not luxurious amount of foam. The coffee is strong enough to have a presence in the cup, although an extra espresso disc can be used to create a stronger coffee flavor.

Gevalia Latte - good flavor. Again, a nice balance between the milk (same 2% variety as above) and espresso flavors. I preferred the latte but would buy both again.

Maxwell House Latte - coffee flavor too weak. This latte is definitely improved by using two espresso discs with one creamer (same 2% used in the Gevalia products) otherwise the coffee flavor disappears into the background and the milk is entirely too prominent.

Maxwell House House Blend Decaffeinated -- a medium brew. The coffee isn't as bad as the Gevalia, but it also isn't Starbucks. There is a slighly smoky aftertaste, which I actually liked. This will do nicely when I've met my caffeine threshold. Currently, the only decaffeinated options are this one, Gevalia Signature Brew (see below) and Gevalia Espresso. Hopefully, Starbucks will create one soon.

Suchard Hot Chocolate Syrup - good tasting chocolate but odd drink. This is a very watery, non-dairy chocolate drink. I've read reviews from people who adore the drink, but I would definitely add a little milk or cream. I did try using creamer T disc but the hot chocolate lost too much of the chocolate flavor. The Suchard, and an espresso disc and a little milk made a passable mocha, but the milk needs to be heated. I understand the Milka T discs, initially only available in the foreign market are now available and that variety makes a delicious cup of hot chocolate. Milka will be in my next disc order, and I will post an update. I will keep experimenting with my remaining Suchard discs and see if I can find a great combination of flavors.

Twinings Chai Tea Latte - very pleased with flavor but contains Splenda and sugar - weird.Nevertheless, I found this chai tea latte delicious, and will definitely buy it again. That said, I do not have a problem with Splenda. Some people have a sensitivity to the sweetener and also notice an aftertaste. I noticed no aftertaste and wouldn't have known the drink contained Splenda if I hadn't read the package. The creamer is the same 2% product noted in the latte and cappuccino products.

Although not necessary, I found using a warm cup (microwave with a little water for 30 seconds) added to the enjoyment. I look forward to sampling the Seattle's Best Coffees, the Milka hot chocolate, the other Twinnings and Tazo teas. This is a quality machine with plenty of delicious coffee and tea selections readily available and it lives up to the promise of an automatic beverage system, something the Keurig system failed to do for me.

Update:
Milka Hot Chocolate -- did not disappoint -- it is a creamy rich hot chocolate that is absolutely delicious. For mocha simply add an espresso disc. This is one variety I will always have on hand. And, there are only 90 calories per serving and 2.5 grams of fat.

Gevalia Caramel Latte Macchiato -- has a decidedly artificial caramel flavor which although not overpowering is unpleasant. I won't buy again. A better idea would be to buy a quality caramel coffee syrup and add it to the Gevalia Latte.

Gevalia Decaffeinated Signature Blend coffee -- ugh, not surprisingly it has the same dreadful flavor as the regular Gevalia Signature Blend coffee. The Maxwell House decaffeinated T disc is far superior.

Update II:
Maxwell House Morning Blend -- brews a large 12 ounce cup of medium strength coffee. The taste is fine, again slightly smoky. I will definitely keep this on-hand for emergencies.

Maxwell House French Roast -- produces a decent bold cup of coffee. I find the quality of the Maxwell House T discs superior overall to the Gevalia regular coffee brews. The espresso Gevalia disc is the only exception because the Maxwell House espresso is too weak.

Starbucks Africa Kitamu -- absolutely amazing bold cup of coffee without bitterness or any aftertaste. This variety has taken over as my favorite from Starbucks Verona. If you drink bold coffee black, this is the T disc to buy. Delicious.

Update III:
2/19/2010 The recently released Starbucks Latte Primo and Cappuccino Primo are absolutely superior to the Maxwell and Gevalia milk based coffee drinks. Starbucks has created their own milk T-Discs and both the cappuccino and latte versions are a significant improvement. Both milk discs contain a small amount of sugar although I did not detect any sweetness in taste. Perhaps the sugar helps balance the cooked milk flavor. The most important improvement is found in the taste of the espresso T-Disc that comes with both drinks. The flavor is fabulous and we can only hope that in the future the espresso discs will be sold separately. I wrote a detailed review of both the Starbucks Cappuccino Primo and Latte Primo under the actual product listings. I also added photos of the drinks brewing because they layered so beautifully. I continue to use my Tassimo daily and remain absolutely delighted by its performance.

Update IIII:
12/19/2010 I recently ordered two Carte Noire coffees, Kenya and Voluptuoso, from the Tassimo website and found both delicious. This is a European brand that although readily available on the website is a bit more difficult to locate in stores in the US. The Kenya variety is sold on Amazon and the Voluptuoso is available in a variety pack, but as I write this both are out of stock, but they are worth tracking down.

Regarding cup size, they rest between a shot of espresso and a full cup of coffee which also accurately describes the flavor. These are bold, yet smooth flavored strong coffee blends that are not in the least bit bitter and have a lovely layer of crema (dark creamy foam) resting on top. I highly recommend both varieties.

Product Description:
With the touch of a button, this single-serve coffee brewer makes coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, as well as cappuccinos and lattes with real milk. The machine uses Tassimo discs (T-Discs), which contain precisely measured amounts of the ingredients for each drink and are sealed to protect the flavors inside. With barcode technology, the brewer scans the barcode printed on the label of each T-Disc to identify the drink desired. The system then expertly adjusts to the optimal brewing time, temperature, and amount of water needed. Simply insert a T-Disc, press the button, and in about a minute, sit back and enjoy a coffeehouse-quality hot beverage, one cup at a time. Try over 40 beverage varieties from 12 distinct brands, including Starbucks. All the brewing happens inside the T-Disc using a unique inverse flow, so beverages pour directly from the T-Disc into the cup, allowing for different drinks to be prepared one after the other with no flavor transfer from cup to cup. There's no need to measure, no hassle, and virtually no cleanup. In addition, it automatically reverts to stand-by mode after every brew cycle in order to save energy when not in use. Other highlights include customizable drink size and strength, a convenient front-access on/off switch, a user-friendly multilingual LCD display that shows the steps of the brewing process, an exclusive flow-through water heater for faster brewing, an extra-large 67-ounce removable water tank, and an automatic cleaning and de-scaling program. Keurig Single Serve Coffee and Tea Brewing System Select B77 Review

Keurig Single Serve Coffee and Tea Brewing System Select B77
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While it worked, it was a great machine. The coffee was great and so was the hot chocolate.Very convenient for the whole family. I even found K-cups at my local Stop and Shop grocery store for only 5.99 for a box of 12.

I received this for Christmas and it stopped working on New Year's day. Machine rumbles displaying "Not Ready" then shuts off. After keeping it powered off for about an hour it started working again, but then konked out, once again, mid brew.I wrote to customer service on Keurig's website and didn't get a reply after 5 days, so I called their 866 number.

After waiting on hold for approx. an hour for a technician, I was told that I was not allowed to wait any longer on hold and that they would call me back after 24 to 48 hours. The person I spoke to said that they have had an influx of calls with this problem since Christmas.Must be a bad batch that went out.I was also told that if they had replied by email, they would have told me to call, so don't waste your time with email.

I purchased the machine from Costco, but no longer have the box, so I don't know if I can return to them. If I am not able to get any satisfaction from Keurig, I will try going back to Costco.I will update this review with the final status of this problem.

1/10/10update:I had to wait 3 days for a technician to call me back. The technician told me to use a paper clip and make sure the top and bottom spouts were clear and we ran through several hot water cycles on different cup settings.

I don't know if this 'fixed' the problem because at that point it had been working again. The tech. said that the hot cocoa cups could clog the spouts (although I do run a hot water cycle after each hot cocoa cup is 'brewed'). She also said there may be a problem with the separate filter that allows me to use my own coffee as opposed to their K-Cups. After her call, I stopped using the hot cocoa and the separate filter and so far have not had any problems.

1/26/10 update- The machine started shutting off yet again.I contacted customer service and they promptly told me that they would send me a new machine. The new machine is working perfectly (so far) and the "motor" definitely sounds different.I am hopeful. I had to send them a part from the old machine within 30 days in order to not be charged for the new machine.

When it works, this really is a great machine and so convenient. I hope I got a good one this time around.

My Senseo finally died and I didn't feel like buying a new one.A friend told me about this little one cup coffee maker that uses Senseo coffee pods so I bought one.So far it works like a gem.Sure it's a bit "plasticy" and cheap feeling but it makes me a mug of coffee on demand and is letting me use my collection of various Senseo (and other) coffee pods.A small mug is the largest you can fit under the spout so be forewarned about not being able to use a tall mug.Device allows for one or two pods.I'm pleased with it.

If you're reading this review, you're most likely doing research and trying to decide between the Keurig line (B40,B50,B60), the Tassimo, or the Senseo.Out of those three, the Keurig is the best looking, the most durable, has the best heating and pumping mechanism, and has the largest variety of coffees and teas available. The Tassimo's versatility is tempting, but variety of coffees is lacking, the machine is a first-run model that does not feel as quality as the Keurig (I could barely find a piece of metal in the entire thing), and it cannot be set to warm itself up like the Keurig. The Senseo isn't bad and I may even consider getting it as a second machine, but it is kind of lame how you need two pods to brew an 8 oz cup of coffee.Considering the price of pods that I was looking at, it would outprice both the Keurig and the Tassimo for daily usage.

Between the Keurig models (B40,B50,B60), I spent a lot of time trying to decide and eventually went with the B60, mainly because the B60 is the only model that brews 3 different sizes of coffee--5.25, 7.25, and 9.25oz.The B50, a favorite amongst shoppers, does not offer the 9.25oz size. This large size allows my Oxo travel mug to almost completely fill after using one Extra Bold K-cup.As an added benefit of the B60, you get beautiful blue LEDs behind the display and the water tank, as well as a polished chrome handle and polished chrome outer-ring to the display. It looks very modern and very classy in my otherwise boring kitchen.Highly recommended.

Keurig? Platinum Gourmet Single Cup Coffee & Tea Brewing System 60 K-Cups & My K-Cup Reusable Filter Review

Keurig? Platinum Gourmet Single Cup Coffee & Tea Brewing System 60 K-Cups & My K-Cup Reusable Filter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have just purchased a Keurig Model B66 "Ultimate" and tried it out within the hour. My first opinions on this model are:

On a negative note... I found that the sound is noticeable when the unit is pumping the water into its heater. The individual K-Cup coffee containers while convenient, are costly per cup.

On the positive side... I drink black coffee and I feel that this unit does heat the water to a sufficient temperature and brews a drinkable cup of coffee very quickly. Another plus... Keurig also offers a solution for the "costly per cup servings" in that it sells a reusable coffee filter as an accessory. (This filter will permit you to use your own coffee which relates to a much lower cost per cup.)

My biggest regret about purchasing this particular model is that I didn't notice that the largest cup this unit brews is only ten (well 9.25) ounces... and not the twelve ounce mug size that I consider to be "my" standard size cup. In all fairness I can't find fault with Keurig for that because it clearly states the cup brewing size right on the back of the box.

Keurig B30 Mini Brewers Review

Keurig B30 Mini Brewers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I previously purchased a B40 for my office. The convenience and selection of coffees immediately made it a favorite among co-workers and myself. Of course this meant that I wanted one for home. One problem with the B40 is the noise. Not bad for an office environment but unforgivable first thing in the morning at home. When the B30 was announced and promised to be quieter, that was just what the doctor ordered. This thing is VERY quiet in comparison. I only drink one cup in the morning prior to going to work so the lack of a reservoir is not an issue. If you want multiple cups 30 seconds apart this is not the machine for you. If you don't mind the extra step of dumping a cup of water in a hole and waiting 2 1/2 minutes after you press the brew button (if you own the B40 you were already doing this when you turned the power on) then this machine is great. Oh, and the small footprint means you can be very flexible in where you decide to put it. No major concessions in the countertop usage arena. Bottom line, quiet convenience in a small package makes this a winner.

Average Reviews:

Bought a 8oz single cup coffee maker the other day, but
was displeased with it, was not enough to fill my coffee mug.
It was just enough to fill a tea sized cup.

I then bought this unit, that provides 15oz of coffee.
Fills my coffee mug with a little left over.
Note: you can add just a tad more water, to provide
two cups of 8oz coffee.

Very well constructed unit, and also looks great on the counter.
Also take note, it does shut off automatically once coffee
finishes brewing, which is approximately a quick 2 1/2 minutes.

Works well, and makes a great cup of coffee.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver Review

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Back in June of 2009, Keurig announced a partnership with Mr. Coffee, as well as Cuisinart. The Cuisinart partnership created a premium line of Keurig brew machines. The Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 looks to catch the interest of the more cost-conscious consumer.

PROS:
- Quick
- Easy
- No mess
- Good value (for a Keurig)

CONS:
- Higher cost for coffee using K-Cups
- Higher up-front cost of coffee maker

I was a heavy coffee drinker in college and at my first office job but have otherwise been a casual java drinker since.I had owned coffee machines in the past but typically went the route of the Peet's, Starbucks, Caribou, etc.It was easier, more social, and usually tasted better.Going through the motions with a coffee maker at home was an arduous task, which often resulted in me having to throw away many bags of coffee due to expiration. Then came Mr. Coffee and Keurig technology.

Upon opening the box, I saw a clearly illustrated Quick Start guide that took me through the process of using K-Cups in the machine. It did however, leave out that you should run a cycle with just water before first use.I scanned the manual for a few minutes, ran the prep cycle then brewed my first K-Cup coffee, ever.It turned out just fine.I was AMAZED at how quickly it brewed.I would say it took me about 5 minutes from start to sip.

Afterwards, I just opened the brewer compartment to remove the used K-Cup and tossed it in the trash. No filter to deal with or carafe to clean.Quick to brew and easy to clean! Now, eventually you will need to clean out the parts to remove scaling and such, but depending on your use, I'd guess once a week would suffice.

The Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 is a no frills, personal 8-ounce single-cup brew machine. It is similar to the Keurig-branded mini brewer. The water reservoir is very small and just enough to brew your 8 ounce cup.The brewer compartment, where you insert the K-Cup, reminds me a little of an old cassette player. It opens up and you place the K-Cup inside and it accepts it for use. Then there's the drip tray that removes for easy dumping and cleaning. There are only 3 indicator lights. The first, surrounds the "Brew Now/Off" button and blinks softly when you press it to indicate the machine is working. The second light, "Heating" lets you know that it is heating up the water. The third indicator light, "Brewing", shows that the coffee is being brewed. When the coffee is finished, the "Brew Now/Off" button turns off and the machine is ready to be run again.

My only hesitation in recommending the machine goes for all single-serve pod-based coffee machines.Cost.The intial cost is usually pretty high when compared to a normal coffee maker and cost per K-Cup can be quite high relative to using normal bags of ground coffee. However, if you are looking at these systems, then what you are after is probably convenience, not a cheap cup of coffee. In that case, I believe the Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 is a great addition to your home or office.

Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System Review

Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased the new Keurig B-70 Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System that was released on October 1st, 2006 and have been very happy with it.The machine is extremely well designed, simple to operate, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, brews an excellent cup of coffee.I am very impressed with how quickly it is able to brew a cup of coffee, the selection of brew sizes, and how simple clean up is.

There are a variety of single cup brewers on the market now, many utilizing pre-packaged coffee "pods" for brewing.Personally I was not comfortable purchasing a product where I would be locked into the selection and pricing of a specific manufacturer, or one that would only brew coffee and not tea and cocoa. This is just one area where Keurig really shines above their competition.

Keurig has gathered support of a variety of gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa manufacturers and there currently there are over 140 different types sold pre-packaged in K-Cups including Green Mountain, Diedrich, Gloria Jean's, Timothy's, Van Houtte, Tully's, Coffee People, Newman's Own, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow, Twinings, and Ghirardelli. Not only is there a large selection to choose from, there are a variety of resellers online offering K-Cups, and pricing is extremely competitive.

In addition to the pre-packaged offerings, Keurig offers the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in your Keurig home brewer. This option provided the extra level of comfort I personally needed to make the jump into a single cup brewer.Frankly I don't find myself using it very often as I had originally thought, as there are so many options available in pre-packaged K-cups.

The pricing of the Keurig brewers are extremely reasonable, and brews gourmet coffee in just a fraction of the cost of purchasing it from a Starbucks, Coffee People, or similar.I expect that my machine will pay for itself in savings in just a couple months of use.

The only suggestion I have for Keurig is that the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter be included with the sale of the brewer, and not an optional accessory. It is such an inexpensive accessory that I am surprised it was not included.Overall the Keurig brewers are excellent value and quality and would recommend them to anyone interested in a single cup brewer.

Keurig B-40 B40 Elite Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System Review

Keurig B-40 B40 Elite Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I read every single Amazon.com review for this item. And then read them again.I went to the Keurig website and researched the B40.Came back to Amazon and read the reviews one more time.If I was going to pay $100 for a coffee machine, I wanted to be sure I knew as much as possible about it.I finally purchased the B40, and after getting it today and having brewed four cups of coffee so far, I offer the following review (from a BLACK COFFEE drinker, no milk, no sugar):

I think the people who claim this machine is too loud and complain that it vibrates too much are your normal "Mr. Coffee" people.Yes, the machine makes noise. It's pumping pressurized hot water into the K-Cups.Of course it's gonna make noise.I counted each time the noise was made.It lasts five seconds each time, at most. And it's MUCH quieter than my Melitta Mill & Brew, which grinds the coffee beans with a high shrill. This machine also vibrates. But again, it's well worth the minor noise and moderate vibration. You shouldn't be shelling out this much money for a coffee machine if you expect a Mr. Coffee coffee maker. You are buying a "gourmet" coffee machine, and it has some cool features that require hot pressurized water to be pumped through the machine. Not a big deal!

I think a lot of the negative reviews that I read, and maybe all of them, referred to an older version of the B40 that only had one cup size setting.Indeed, when I purchased this machine at Target today, the display model for the B40 had only one cup size.I had to triple-check the box to make sure I was getting the B40 with the TWO cup sizes (and I was).So maybe they have improved the machine since that version.

I read negative reviews about this machine making weak coffee.I was so freaked out about those reviews, I wanted to brew every K-Cup (even the Extra Bold) on the small cup setting. As I was brewing the third cup, I put in a "regular" K-Cup and hit the "large" cup setting.I immediately went into Panic Mode, worried that I just wasted a K-Cup, because my coffee would be too weak to drink. Not true at all!Yes, the coffee was not quite as strong as I would normally like, but it was a very decent cup of coffee.I will not worry if I ever hit the large size on a regular pod again.Although I plan on buying all Extra Bold cups, so that I can brew a bigger cup.

I am extremely pleased with this coffee machine. So much so that I plan to buy two of this same model (or the B60 if it's on sale) as Christmas gifts for my mom and uncle.

As a former coffee house Assistant Manager and an avid fan of "gourmet" coffee, I highly recommend this coffee machine.Probably the best $100 I have spent in at least five years. One of my biggest concerns was that the beans had NO TIME to brew properly in such a short amount of time. But I was completely wrong. This machine brews a nice, bold, rich cup of coffee.Slightly less bold and rich if you brew the regular pods on the larger cup setting; but still very drinkable.I was also concerned that the pods would leak after removing them from the machine, but they are almost dry.I haven't had a single one drip on the way to the trash can, and I remove them seconds after brewing.I'm extremely pleased with the ease and cleanliness of using this machine. No filters to deal with, no messy coffee grounds, no dirty coffee pots to wash (and filter baskets). The convenience of the machine alone is well worth the minor noise and vibration.

I highly recommend this machine.Just do your research and make sure this is the coffee machine you are looking for.It takes time to research, but it pays off in the end.I couldn't be happier with the B40, and don't see why anyone else wouldn't be just as pleased.

Time for me to make another cup.

Breville BKC700XL Gourmet Single-Serve Coffeemaker with Iced-Beverage Function Review

Breville BKC700XL Gourmet Single-Serve Coffeemaker with Iced-Beverage Function
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned a Keurig Platinum B70 since January 2007 and have liked it a lot since getting it.K-cups are very convenient and aren't overly expensive when purchased from Amazon. My primary complaint about it is the pump noise and vibration.Keurig updated the design and greatly reduced the noise and vibration in their latest model of the Platinum and in this Breville model, and I wanted to find out just how much of an improvement there was.In my opinion, the improvement is huge.It is much, much quieter.I also liked the addition of the smaller cup size of four ounces, as well as the option to use a built-in water filter.Functionally, the Keurig Platinum and Breville BKC700XL are identical. The Breville adds a couple of nice convenience features (such as a supplied My K-Cup with a storage bin), and the cosmetics are clearly different. After using both, the cosmetics are a wash for me (some pluses for one model, and some pluses for the other), so it comes down to the difference in price.Right now, the Breville costs over $90 more than the Platinum.I don't think it's worth it, but it certainly might be for anyone that prefers the looks of the Breville.Either way, the coffee is good and easy to make!

Product Description:
The best coffee is always the freshest coffee. That's why it makes no sense to brew by the pot: by the time you get around to drinking most of the joe, it's been sitting in a carafe (or worse, on top of a burner), going more bitter and stale with each minute. The Breville single-cup brewer takes a different approach. It makes coffee one cup at a time, so each cup tastes as fresh as the first one in the pot. The unit's LCD control panel includes a digital clock with auto on/off time, five brew strengths, and variable brew temperature, which allows for customizing each cup--perfect for households or dinner parties in which everyone likes a different brew. Best of all, the brewing process is very, very difficult to mess up. The Breville's patented "showerhead" sprays a precisely calibrated amount of water through a "K-Cup," a technology made famous by Keurig's single-cup brewers, using temperature and pressure designed to extract the maximum amount of flavor from the grounds. The unit provides a sample variety pack of single-use K-Cup coffee pods, including cocoa and tea, as well as a reusable My K-Cup that accepts any variety of ground coffee. The included My K-Cup and measuring spoon conveniently store in the brewer's top compartment. Furthermore, the machine comes with an iced-beverage function that dispenses a concentrated 3-1/2-ounce shot of tea or coffee. Simply dilute with ice and add water, milk, or sweeteners for an iced tea or coffee. Other highlights include low-noise pump technology for quiet brewing, a removable 60-ounce water tank that can brew up to 10 cups before it needs refilling, and a charcoal water-filtration system to reduce impurities for optimal taste. Made from heavy-duty stainless steel in a sleek, stylish design, the 1500-watt single-cup coffeemaker measures approximately 14-3/4 by 12-3/4 by 16-3/4 inches.
